I’m a Gatsby bride!!

Several sizes too small, when I decided this is the one I wanted:

When my dress came in – ivory with pewter detailing – cutting off the satin belt was the first thing we did in alterations:

And my first fitting (last week):

^^ The above photographs are of the Gatsby in champagne over light gold. I don’t have any photographs of the back, sadly, as the dress was too big and the back had to be bunched up to fit! My dress is currently on order (in the UK) and will be the ivory version. I too am not 100% sure on the tie waist as the lace detail beneath it is so stunning! We’ll see how I feel when it arrives!

@floralgypsy:  You look gorgeous in that dress! Yay dress twins!

@WifeyBerlin: I am adding the blue ribbon as my ‘something blue’. I saw it somewhere (probably on the Bee) and I love it. The ribbon was $3.50 at Hobby Lobby.

Here are some pictures of my Milana in the light gold. I had the neckline changed to a sweetheart.

I love the gatsby. I might have gone maggie if I’d seen it before I feel for my casablanca.  The milana is lovely too!

Can I ask you where did you buy your dress and how much did it cost you with alterations ?

@lila2012:  I bought mine in a little town called Witney in Oxfordshire. I literally phoned a few stores, compared prices and went with the cheapest! Mine cost £1,040 due to a 20% discount the store offered on Maggie Sottero dresses, but the RRP was £1,225.

I don’t know where you are in the UK but look up Maggie suppliers in your area and phone ahead. There is a 20-week waiting period for them to make the dress so plan ahead – I have yet to try on my ‘real’ gown as it isn’t due to arrive until late June!

@floralgypsy:  thank you so much !! I haven’t seeing your reply. I am in central London and I am really strugling with suppliers in here :/

I should plan a trip to Oxfordshire, the store you went to looks so nice ! and 1,040 is perfect.

Hi

All the photos are great – beautiful!

Love the alterations @confetti200egg You look gorgeous! I would want to take the waist tie off and create a more accentuated neckline too. Definately.

@floralgypsy so beautiful in the champagne gold colour -this is what i’m leaning towards and i LOVE the veil with it.

A couple of questions:

1) How have people found the sizing? Generous/ comes up small? I’m a 14/16 uk size and wondering what i might need – if its anything like other dresses (teeny!) I think i might need an 18?

2) I’m also a UK/ London bride, but willing to travel to find this dress. looking for where to try on/ buy the beautiful Gatsby. Anyone have any names of shops? Suppliers? Obvs not looking to promote companies, so if anyone can help please message me.

I’d really appreciate it. :))

Many thanks

To be honest, I’m a UK size 10 normally and had to order a size 8 dress. However, this might be a US size 8 which would equate to a UK size 12 and thus be the size up rather than down!! I’m not sure how the sizing works, I just know that the sample was too big!!
