I bought the Olivia! I was the first person to try it on at my salon and the only person to purchase it. The girls told me that it’s a hard dress to pull off unless you’re petite. I love it so much! I’m altering it to be a deeper sweetheart.

While I’m sure it helps to be little and adorable, I wouldn’t say that’s the only body type that can wear this dress.  I am in NO WAY petite, haha, but it was the most flattering dress I tried on and I ordered it.  Being a size 6 when we met and now a size 14 for our wedding, I was totally bummed out about my weight and all.  (I blame him though, for being a French chef and feeding me his creations all the time.)  But the Olivia, while obviously not able to magically remove 50lbs, did give me my waist back.  The fit and flare defines curves, while the floral overlay hides a good deal of imperfection.  Also, the bust is supportive and holds up my Dirty Delete boobs, while having a minimizing effect.

This is a picture before alterations – it’s actually in the process of being let out now – so you can see that it’s a bit snug, but when the alteration is finished all I’ll need is some Spanx underneath and I’m going to feel like I look like a million bucks!

I would LOVE to see photos after ur alterations. I put a deposit on Olivia 2 weeks ago & I’ve been doubting it ever since. I’m thinking if making a sweetheart too but I can’t envision it. I also feel like I need some sparkle. What are you ladies doing for accessories?

Don’t doubt your choice for a moment, I think it looks great on you.  You will really make an impression on your wedding day in it.  The Olivia is a beautiful and pretty unique dress – almost nobody has it for some reason.  I actually had another dress which was very nice and I was happy with it….. until I met the Olivia!

Alterations are almost finished, in fact I have my very last fitting tomorrow so I’ll try to remember to take some pictures to put up here for you.  It’s my 4th appointment with the seamstress actually, so I’ve been able to see the dress really take shape and transform into this second skin I absolutely cannot wait to wear!

As far as bling goes, the dress is very busy so I’ve tried not to overdo it.  My veil is a simple single-layer scalloped ivory, down to the backs of my knees (called waltz length), with a silver pencil-line border.  Just enough to pick up the silver accents from the rosettes in the dress, without being too much.  I also have a gorgeous cascading rhinestone clip that will be on the side of my hairstyle to tie it all together.  My jewelry is an amazing ivory pearl set that my fiance bought me last year in Thailand when we went there together.  All together, the look is very elegant.  It’s too easy to over-accessorize sometimes, especially when the dress is so involved as the Olivia is.  But I’m sure you’ll find the right balance!

I’ve attached a picture of the hair clip, and I’ll work on getting some of the pearls, veil, and dress at the appointment tomorrow night.

@longbeachalice:  thank you so much for all the details. I would love to see new pics when u get a chance. I’ve been trying to figure out if it is the lack of sparkle, the neckline, or the lack of a real mermaid feel that had me doubting it. I don’t want to make an alteration without being sure you know. I also was thinking a waltz length veil would be perfect! Not too long to over shadow the flowers but still long enough to give that added oomph. Your hair clip is beautiful btw! Are u putting ur hair all up, or mostly down?

@trademrk04:  thank you 🙂 can’t wait for your pics as well. As much as the unique-ness of the dress was a selling point for me I love that I found other ladies who also said yes to Olivia. It does look great on both of u & gives me more confidenvein the dress. 23 days is such an exciting countdown! I’m just waiting to hit 100.
