Maggie dresses are fan-freaking-tastic! I tried on two that I loved, and i’m a plus sized bride… Maggie actually sends out several plus sized dresses to most stores that carry plus sizes! You may have to look around until you find the one you love, but you can definitely find it!

I’m a two dress bride, and my first dress is a Mon Cheri. It fits AMAZINGLY and for the price, has so many more details. The only reason I would go to Maggie over it would be because of the corset back… it is very slimming!

I’m a street size 16 as well. I tried on a maggie that was a 14 and it didn’t do for me what i expected it to (perhaps the sales person was in a rush)… i loved alfred angelo, my dress is an alfred angelo and it cinched and suckked me in.  my mom has a picture of me in the maggie and i’ll post it when she emails it to me,

Sorry if this is redundant, but have you checked out the “real brides” section on Maggie’s website? Last time I was there they featured many real brides who looked to be size 14+. I know it’s not trying them on, but you might be able to get an idea of how the styles fit in a larger size.

Also, try Mori Lee and Jasmine. They are the pricepoint of Alfred Angelo but better quality.

I’m a Maggie girl….bought mine a couple of months ago!  I LOVE the way it fits! It has a lace up back (which is very forgiving and adjustable) and has roushing (sp?) in the middle that makes you look thinner.  LOVE MAGGIE!!

I love my maggie! my dress is a size 16, and one of the reasons i love it is because i have this tiny waist in it! It has the corset back, and my saying is vanity over sanity, so i told the girl to lace that sucker as much as she could! Definitely check out the website though for pix of real girls, there are a lot of girls that aren’ts the typical size 2’s! and i wear a street size 16, so i was shocked that i bought a wedding dress size 16.

This is my Maggie dress, the Melissa Brooch. I know this isn’t the best example, but I’m a 14-16 and I carry most of my weight right in my waist and hips. This was the first Maggie that I tried on and I loved how it minimized that area. (You can see right at the waist line how the dress bunches a little.. that’s because the dress in the picture was the store sample and it was a 14, so it was a little snug around my hips, but even then, I feel like the dress really accented my figure by making it look more proportioned instead of just drawing attention to my problem area.)

@sno1uh: gorgeous dress!!! i think I may try on more maggies just to see what it is like to have more than one example (roll eyes) and because i have heard soo much about the flattery and i just didn’t experience it (but the dress that i had on was heavily beaded so perhaps i couldn’t get my attention off of the beading to notice anything else lol).

@crebre80 Thanks! Yeah, I found that with really detailed dresses with lots of beading, I looked larger. I tried to stay away from lots of details on the dresses because I felt like a lot of them were aimed at plus-size brides and only drew attention to the fact that it was a plus-sized dress. Does that make sense? LOL.. I know what I mean, but it’s hard to articulate it. 🙂
