Hey everyone! I am currently in the processing of purchasing a Maggie Sottero (presca marie) dress. I was wondering if anyone is knowledgable of the length of the dress for a petite vs. a regular cut? I am 5″8 so the woman at the bridal shop told me I was an exact length for a petite cut (I’m not wearing heels) therefore I would need basically no alterations as the dress is in a size 4. I am not able to try on the dress because of course, they do not carry any petite in stores. Does anyone know the length in inches of maggie petites? I would greatly appreciate it!!!!
Thanks so much!!

5’8″ and she’s telling you to get a petite cut? I don’t think that’s at all right. You’re taller than me and I’m in no way considered petite.

Did you ask her the exact length of the “petite cut”? I’m not getting a Maggie but I’m getting a Mori Lee in size 4 and the shortest length available (55″) and it should end up being about exactly right with me being 5′ 3″ and wearing 4″ heels (so basically 5′ 7″). I don’t know how I would feel about ordering a petite cut without knowing the exact length, especially at 5′ 8″.

Whoa, if you’re 5’8″ and they’re telling you you’re petite, what am I at 5’1″? LOL! I consider you tall! Especially if you’ll be wearing heels!

I just ordered my Maggie Sottero Adalee dress. I have a large chest so while I’m a street size 4/6, my dress is a 10. She gave me the option of ordering it at two different lengths. I dont remember how she explained it but basically this is what happened..
I tried the dress on with 4 inch heels and it was still too long so she gave me the option to buy the dress at the length I tried on (I am 5’5ft), so what is that like 5’8 or 5’9ish? OR she said I could order the dress 3 inches shorter but then I would have to find shoes that would fit in height to match the dress.
I chose to order the dress at the longer length then I can find any shoes I want and alter the dress to the shoe.
This explaintion sucks I’m sorry, I hope it somewhat helps. If you are 5’8, I would not order the petite length.

My daughter is barely 5’4″ and we had to custom order her Maggie in petite length, and if she’d have chosen to wear anything with any height, the dress would have been up to her ankles. She wore beaded flats and it was barely skimming her toes.
The person who told you that is wrong,I think.

I wont be of much help but a Bridal shop told me to order petite as I am 5’3″ (almost 5’4″) and that I would have to buy heels that would make up the difference. She said I might only need 1-4″ heels at the most. HOPEFULLY its true as I can not even fathom walking in anything taller.
My dress comes in Sometime at the end of the month or EARLY December. I also ordered a MUCH bigger size than you (size 12) so I am not sure if length goes up with bigger size or if they are all still the same length?
Oh and the none petite version was still LONG SUPER LONG with like 4″ heels on..so I am sure I am fine. Just not sure about you.

I got a MS in petite, and it was just about perfect. I’m 5’2 and wore 4″ heels. I had to get the front hemmed about half an inch.

Well, there are two petite lengths, one that is free and 3″ shorter or one you pay for which is 5″ shorter. This one is the free one. Also, I do not plan on wearing heels. If the dress comes as 5″11 in a regular cut and the petite is 3″ shorter, wouldn’t that indeed make it a perfect length at 5″8? I don’t want to be tripping over the bottom walking down the aisle?

I’d be careful! I’d order the regular length and then hem it to your length with your shoes…even if you are wearing flats they still will add more height than being barefoot. Better have more length than be stuck in regret right before your wedding. You always want to have a little extra length just in case. No one can perfectly measure exactly to what the designers measurements are.

I just ordered my Maggie dress a couple of weeks ago. I am 5’4″ and the dress I tried on was a petite – which is 3 inches shorter than standard. I was wearing a 2 1/4″ inch heel and the dress was still 2 inches too long. Because the dress is all lace, and the bottom is scalloped, it would be a difficult and expensive hemming alteration. My dress – Lavina – had the option to be made 3 or 5 inches shorter. I chose to have it shortened by 5″ and will go with a smaller heel if necessary. I am being charged an additional $75 by Maggie Sottero to have this shorter length. Luckily, the sample I tried was my size, and fit perfectly everywhere else, so I am confident that shortening the dress by 5 inches will be fine. Only the front of the dress is shortened by this amount – the train remains at the standard length.

I am 5’3 and wearing flats, I got mine in a petite length and it only needs to be hemmed a little. I wouldn’t chance ordering the petite length if you are 5’8. It can be hemmed if its too long, but if its too short you are hooped…

you are 5″8 and they askyou to order in petite size? did you ask them how long is it? compare the length with the one you tried on. i always thought petite are those 5″2 or 5″3. did you ask them what will they do if the dress comes in and it is too short for you? just ask clearer first. if not it is better to order something longer than you can alter later than having a short one. also, ask if the dress can be shorten. good luck!
