Hi primrose bees,

I’m looking to purchase this dress for my upcoming wedding, online. I just had some questions:

– For those shorter ladies (I’m 5’4), at what point did you take the dress up to make it shorter? At the seam (just under the thigh), or shorten the ruffles from the bottom?

– I’d be interested to hear if you are wearing this with a hoop (and if so, what shape), or not, and what it looks like. I’m looking at hoop 15 on this website: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/White-wedding-dress-gown-bridal-crinoline-petticoat-hoop-flounce-unerskirt-/111252646184

Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

say17:  I’m not under 5’4″, but I ordered a petite.  It doesn’t change the bust/waist/hip sizes; it only chops three inches off the height of the dress.  I’m not sure if it shortens the bodice or the skirt, but it will at least help with alterations a little bit.  When you factor in your shoes (especially heels, if you wear them) and the added hoop, you may not need to shorten it at all.

Yay fellow Primrose brides!! I am 5′ 4″ but have not had mine altered yet, as my wedding isn’t for another 4.5 months, and I’m not sure what the salon purchased for me, all I know is that it is a size 10 I believe (I’m usually street size 6) and it fits almost perfectly. As far as putting a hoop in it, I personally would not (I’m not a fan of them) but I also think that the skirt is designed and cut in such a way that it flows nicely when you walk and it is relaxed, not meant to be stretched out into a full on hoop skirt. Again that’s just me. Whatever you end up choosing will be beautiful! Below is the sample, not my actual dress, but it was only one size up from what I ordered. I also purchased this belt with it – can’t wait to wear it!!

rainbowpony:  Thank you! Not at all. It is not heavy at all, very light material. My main concern was being able to dance all night long in it and I busted out in a little dancing sesh right in the salon and it moved with me perfectly! I also walked around the whole upstairs of the salon, which has the dresses on hangars and racks and different seating areas and it manuevered through all of them well.

Here is my dress with the Allure s60 belt. I am 5’2 and my seamstress did a fabulous job at hemming it. They did not cut the dress from the bottom at all. She sewed some of the material up which gave it a little more poof. I was really happy with that since you spend so much money on your wedding dress the last thing you want to do is cut it up.

Primrose Ladies, what kind of bustle did you end up doing? I go in for my fitting in a few weeks and I’m curious about the bustle options, particularly with such a textured skirt.

@criscont (don’t know how to tag you!) I’m happy to hear that your seamstress didn’t cut the bottom – I’ve been curious about how it might be hemmed! You looked GORGEOUS, btw!

Bearoline:  I did three bustle spots on the outside of the skirt. It gave awesome volume. I also had the dress hemmed where the skirt and bodice come together, rather than cutting the bottom of the dress
