@Hollie720: Did you try both the Sabelle in light gold and the diamond white? I can’t tell whether they are two different dresses or it was the flash on the camera. Which color did you end up with?

Can anyone please tell me what sort of diameter they had on their hoop skirt? What sort of hoop did you use? 1 hoop, 2, 3?

My dress will only get in a month before my wedding and I’m really not sure what sized hoop I need! I know I’ll need to have the hoop skirt ready to go so I can hem it.

I’d like to hear from some real brides – I have found the sales assistants quite pushy and they are, of course, out to look after their own interests. 🙂

Hi fellow Sabelle ladies!

I originally tried on the dress in the light gold color but went for the diamond white for the more traditional look. I love this dress!!! Only problem is, it gets SO SO hot. I am kind of freaking out because I was standing there getting hot at the dress appointment, and I only had it on maybe 20 minutes. Any tips?? I deal with anxiety so my mom said it’s probably just nerves and a glass of (white!) wine or two before the wedding should calm them. I am wearing the medium sized petticoat underneath.

Any tips would be appreciated!!!

Experiencing some dress regret…. help!!!  I love the sabelle but i’m wondering if I should have gone with something a little more lacy, like the poppy or catarina… or possibly the casablanca 1900.  Only problem is, I have already paid over $800 for my deposit 🙁 I need encouragement 🙂

@futuremrshandy Don’t worry, my dear! The dress is a beautiful balance of lace and ruffles and it doesn’t over do it. If you are worried about being hot then maybe try a hoop skirt under it? It will keep the dress off your legs and allow for air flow.

The sales ladies told me my dress would be in in July. But when I called up to confirm the dates they told me it would be in the first week of August. Because this is at least a week later than I thought it would be I won’t get to see my dress until the week before the wedding. They were telling me that you do the final fitting the week of the wedding, so I’m going to have to make the adjustments myself. I won’t even get to try it on until the week before. :S

I have a fly in fly out job in mining on the other side of the country – 2 weeks on/ 1 week off and the dress will come in right at the start of my last 2 weeks on before the wedding. I really hope the only thing I need to do is hem it!

(I live in Australia and the petite option isn’t an option here)

@Tinka: Hey, I’m not sure how short/how much hemming you need but if you get a 3 or 4 ring hoop skirt you can adjust the height of the dress quite a bit by sizing the rings in and out. That plus heels might mean you don’t need much hemming if any.

I’m pretty tall already, so with the hoop skirt I have to make sure it’s not too big and making the dress lift too high if I want to wear any kind of heel at all.

@diamondscan Oh right! I didn’t know that you could get adjustable hoops. Thanks!! If I can just make it big enough I might be okay!

When I tried the dress on the sales lady gave me quite a small petticoat. When I asked to try it with a bigger petticoat they told me the dress wasn’t made for a bigger one. They are asking AU$220 (US$240) for their petticoat, and I’m pretty reluctant to pay that much for such a simple thing. It seems like a LOT of money for a petticoat. I will buy it online, I think, if I can just figure out how big it needs to be!

Are adjustable hoops able to be bent? As in, could I get it posted?

Can anyone tell me what sort of diameter their dress/petticoats have?

Any help is much appreciated!

Here are a few pictures of me in my dress during my wedding last September.

The dress is light gold (looks ivory) in a size 6 petite (I usually wear size 4 in clothes).

I am looking to sell my dress so if anyone is interested, please contact me at [email protected]

Thanks!

Does anyone have close up pictures of their sabelle’s beading on the top of the dress, and of the lace on the bottom and of the flowers… really need those detailed shots, appreciate it.  Thanks Karen

@tinka

Petticoats can be ordered in ebay at a much less expensive cost.  Most have bendable hoops and they can be adjusted by creating a smaller hoop, but not much bigger.  I have used them for the dickens fair dresses from the civil war period.

To all, I was able to get some good upclose pics, thanks.

Unfortunately I can’t afford the Sabelle, so going for a replica from china, will see how it comes out
