After I purchased my Sabelle, I had tons of questions as to how to accessorize. My dress is the diamond white. Below are some suggestions I offer for your Sabelle, which worked wonderfully for me!

1. Petticoat: The dress is possitively too heavy for a full, a-line petticoat. Save your legs from sweating, and be able to walk and move without tripping over the dress, by going with a hoop skirt petticoat. I purchased the following petticoat online for $58 and it was perfect. It is a spandex top and then opens with 4 hoops at the bottom. The shape compliments the dress perfectly, and you can walk with air movement between your legs…trust me! http://www.knotthegroom.com/ladies-wedding-undergarments/laurel-bridal-slip.html

NOTE: Remember that the dress will raise in height with this petticoat. I had planned on getting about a 1.5-2 inch heal befor the petticoat…I had to find a flat once I tried the dress with the petticoat!

2. Bustle: The french bustle is the way to go with this dress. Given the weight and the detail on the back, invest the money in your seamstress and go for the french bustle. However, we did have some issues with the lace detail on the side and getting that hemmed to the same level witht his bustle as the rest of the dress. Anyway, it turned out and looked great.

3. Steam or not to steam: I really didn’t know what to do, but in the end, ended up getting the thing steamed. The dress fabric could probably be just fine without having anything steamed, but i didn’t want to risk it, so I paid the money and had my dress shop steam my dress for me.

4. Veil: The detailing on the back of this dress is too beautiful to cover up. I had wanted to go with a birdcage, but it just didn’t work. Instead I went with a sheer, cathedral length veil and a fun hair accessory. It didnt’ disappoint. Please see the pictures. I purchased the veil via my bridal store: The Bridal Gallery in Sioux Falls, SD for about $200. I removed the veil after the ceremony and rocked out with just my hairpiece for the dance.

5. Jewelery: The dress has so much detailing that an over the top necklace could overpower. I went with a simple diamond pendant and no earrings. However, no necklace and some chandelier earrings might look awesome as well. However, do NOT forget some type of bracelett for your wrist. It photographs well and compliments your ‘other’ hand, opposite the ring. I seriously spent $12 on my bracelett from my local Claire’s store.

6. Flowers: All the detail of the dress is beautiful and can easily be covered with an oversized bouquet. I had a medium bouquet of hand tied flowers. As you can see, my color palette was black, white and the solid pink. It was stunning.

7. Tuxes: Do yourself a favor and request a color swatch of your dress from the bridal store. All ‘whites’ are NOT the same. My diamond white matched the tux shop’s ivory white, thanks to my color swatch, I was able to make the tie switch and prevented my dress looking ‘dirty’ next to his crisp white tie. We went with all black, black pants, black shirts and black coats and forgot the vests. The ties were the only pop of color (and the boutineers). I was reluctant at first to go this route, but it looked great….and less color to try to match. We did a black on black pin stripe for the coat and pants, which offered some contrast.

Hope this helps with some questions!

the light gold color is GORGEOUS, just not traditional enough for me so I went with the diamond white, but I’m sure you’ll love it!

Here’s some photos of my Sabelle!
