This is just an fyi for those of you buying a Maggie. I was freakin’ out as to what size to order, and I couldn’t seem to find a straight answer from anyone any where. So, just to let you all know, Maggie is pretty true to “street size”. That is, I typically wear between a 2 and a 4 (and I am NOT like stick skinny), and I ordered a 4. I finally tried it on the other day, and it fit perfectly. It maybe could’ve been a bit tighter actually. So, don’t order your dress thinking that you have to order it a size bigger because you really, truly don’t. I’m so glad I didn’t listen to the dress shop or advice from people on line. Everyone said to order up. Instead, I actually ordered a 4 even though I was a bit big in the hips (an inch over). Go with your gut, not what everyone else says.

I don’t think I can say thank you enough times!! I am a inch over too in the hips but my dress is an A-line so the shop told me to get the size that fit my chest cause the hips wont matter. I wan’t sure but after hearing what you said I can see they are right.

I agree! My dress size was pretty true to my street size. I am a size 8-10 and ordered the 8 and it fit perfectly. The only alternation I needed was putting in a bustle!

This happened to me too. The lady at the shop told me to order up and I didn’t, I went down and it fit perfectly. Thanks for posting this!

This makes me sad 🙁 I was hoping the size I have was bigger than I should wear. Oh well, at least I rock it and thank God im cute 😉

Well for me, my dress was lace up so I was able have a bit of leeway (sp?). But yeah, my dress fit me. But I bet someone who was bigger or smaller then me by a size could fit into my dress because of the corset.

I’m between sizes — street size 0/2 and I’m not sure whether to get a 2 or a 4. I’m leaning towards the 2 — yes, I want to lose a few pounds before the wedding — so I think I’ll be closer to a 2. I’ve tried a 4 on and it fit well, but could have been tighter. With the corset back, I should be okay with the 2, I think. I am really short so I think the 2 will be better for the bust and for the length of the bodice.
Maggie brides, does this sound about right?

I realize this is an old thread – but I am bringing it back because I have just run into the same problem myself. I am between a size zero and a size two on top, (bust and waist) and between a size two and size four on the bottom (hips). It was reccomended when I ordered my dress that I get it in a four ‘just to be safe’ – which I did, but I am thinking now that it mightn’t have been the best choice, since the size four dress will not fit me properly anywhere. (It’ll be at least 1 1/2 inches too big in both the bust and the waist and 1/2 an inch too big in the hips – where as the size two will be only 1/2 an inch too big in the bust and waist, and maybe half an inch too tight in the hip area … although I do plan on losing some weight so hopefully that’ll take care of that!) I’ve only just ordered the dress a week ago, so I am hoping that it’s not too late to switch orders if I decide to. What do you ladies think I should do?

you can always have a dress taken in. you can’t always have it taken out. i’d go with the bigger dress, just to be safe.

Thanks so much for the insight! Love Maggie dresses, hope to get one when my turn comes…

@Irish Terrier: You should probably get the size 2. I bought a Maggie dress this weekend and it was the same sizing situation for me (although I’m not quite as tiny as you!). Fortunately, the consultant grabbed a different dress that was similarly styled that was actually in my hip size for me to try on and it would DEFINITELY be at least an inch or two too big in the hips (and even bigger elsewhere). Even if the size 2 is a little snug, I think the corset lacing comes down far enough that you can get away with it.

@Irish Terrier: Hi I am curious how the sizing panned out for you ordering a size up?

I am btwn a 0/2 for my waist, and I don’t know what size to get!

@Irish Terrier: Also a Lorie bride. I already ordered but am worried I made the wrong decision!

@beachbridebc: I suppose it’s always better to be safe rather than sorry – which is why I went with the size four for myself, even though that I knew it’d be a bit too big all over.
What size did you get?
