HI bees I really could do with some help with sizing for the sottero dresses from anyone that has previously ordered one . I phoned the bridal store and they have told me they have ordered me in a uk 6 as a uk 4 would not fit around my bust but all the other measurements for the 4 would have been perfect so there is a good chance I will need the dress taken in ! I was wandering what a uk 6 is equivalent to in American sizes as wedding dresses come up differentley.
any help would be really appreciated x

A UK size 6 is generally a 10-12 US size. More likely a 10, but in my experience its just a bit bigger than a 10.

Oh wow really , that’s worrying then as when I tried the us size 10 on me it was really big she had to put clips on the back of it!

The previous conversion is the wrong way around. I’m a UK size 10 and that equates to a US size 6 (dependant on designer/style, etc). I bought my gown in the UK and ordered a size 8 which excited me as it sounded smaller than my street size 10, but it was actually a US 8 which is a UK 12!
If you are ordering a UK size 6 then that’s tiny and about a US size 2. The US size 10 dress that you tried on was a standard sample size equivalent to a size 14 UK. It’s quite common to order a size larger than your street size.
(I’m British but living in the US)

I am American but lived in the UK for a while when I was in college. UK size numbers are bigger than American size numbers. I wear an American size 4, and when I bought clothes in the UK, I don’t remember the exact size I bought, but it was bigger than a 4. I think maybe an 8 or a 10.
If you’re a UK size 6, you’re probably a 0-2 in American sizes
ETA: Just check a dress I bought in the UK and it is a size 8, so you’re probably a size 2 in American clothes 🙂
