There’s a bazillion threads on magnet save the dates 🙂  Just search.

But to answer your question, I did business card sized magnets and love the results.  I didnt put any pictures of us on them because I just dont care for that route.

I think it’s cool to send out Save the Dates 4-6 months ahead of time, but any more than that and it starts to get annoying (IMO) unless its a far off Destination Wedding.

I’m doing photo magnet STDs from vistaprint.  We are having our engagement pictures taken next weekend and we will use one of these photos on the magnets.  Since we are getting married on a holiday weekend (Labor Day), we are sending out STDs out either right before the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays or right after.  We need to give people enough notice since many plan travel/vacations/family functions during this weekend.  I think the typical timeline is 6 months in advance for non-holiday and non-destination weddings.

I got my STDs done at Vistaprint! Everyone loved them and we had pictures taken specifically for our STDs. We sent our out about 3 (i think) weeks ago.. but all of our guests will be coming in from out of town and we are getting married on the 7th.. (very close to july 4th)

We are doing magnet save the dates.  I’m sending them out early, at least 6 months in advance because I know summer plans can book up quick.

I think we are using Wedding Paper Divas. We are putting a e-pic on them.

I ordered STD magnets from Vistaprint and they were actually free during a promotional period.  I got the smaller, business card sized ones, but everyone loves them.  They have many different styles to choose from, you can upload your pic onto them for free, too.  I sent mine out two weeks ago because I’m having a Destination Wedding in the peak season of summer, so it is necessary to make sure everyone reserves a little vacation time and reserves hotel rooms.  Typically, you send them around the 6 month mark, though.

We also ordered our save the date magnets from Vistaprint.  Fiance designed them and Vistaprint allowed us to upload the image which a few other sites did not.  We just got them in the mail on Tuesday and they only took about a week to arrive and look great!  We did the larger 5×7 (ish) size.  We plan on sending them out in the next week, a little early, but our wedding is around a holiday so we wanted to get the word out so that people can plan.
