I was just thinking about including magnets in our Save-the-Dates. I’ve actually found an Etsy seller who makes these magnets that are perfect for our theme, so the envelope would have a simple 1-layer cardstock STD (I had been planning on postcards!) and a 1″ button magnet.
Now I see brides-to-be talking about magnet STDs all the time – has anyone ever talked to Canada Post, or USPS about whether magnets stick to their metal sorting machines?
There can’t really be anything against mailing magnets, or I’m sure Bees would have horror stories, but I suddenly had this vision of 65 envelopes, all the same, magneted all over some sorting machine….

YES!! I did magnet STDs and was told to drop them off at the actual post office to be mailed!! Once they are there, they wont be near metal again (so I was told.) Apparently they do get stuck to the sides of the mail collection pubic mailboxes!!
I dropped them to the post office and they all made it out alive!! Mine were full 3″x4″ magnets so they had a very high chance of getting stuck to anything and everything… so if you go straight to the post office, you should be ok!
On a side note: your wedding day is my 31st birthday!! YAY!

That’s good to know! I hadn’t even thought about post boxes being metal, but of course they are!
Hmm… my mail box is metal and I bet lots of other peoples’ are too… oh well, I’m not buying super-strong magnets. 🙂
