I am a former GA-girl (now living in DC) coming back to Atlanta for my wedding next fall. Currently, my first choice for venues is Magnolia Hall…but online pics can only get you so far 🙂 We’re coming down this wknd to see it in person, as well as check out a few other places.
I wanted to see if anyone else has had or attended a wedding there — any things you particularly loved/hated, anything I should be aware of, etc. I can be a bit impulsive (thank god my fiance is not!), so I feel like the more info I have going into this the better 🙂

Hi! Though we eventually decided to get married in FL, my Fiance and I visited several Midtown Atlanta venues and this one was my favorite. It’s a very open and beautiful space. When we visited, it was being set up for a corporate event so I haven’t seen it done up for a wedding.
Where are you planning to have the ceremony?

UPDATE: Just fyi, we went down to check out the property this past wknd and it is BEAUTIFUL — exactly what I had in mind. Obviously we’re still early in the planning so I can’t comment on the ease of working with the staff, but I’ve heard good things from other vendors. We’ll be doing both the ceremony and the reception there, with the cocktail hour out on the terrace while they flip it. Now that we’ve seen it in person I’m even more excited to get on with the rest of the planning!

Magnolia Hall is my first choice for a reception venue, too! I’m hoping it will be beautiful in January when we have our wedding, though.

I am getting married on Clara Meer dock and doing the reception at Magnolia Hall in September!! I went to about 5 different venues and this was by far my favorite — esp. with the assistance of the staff 🙂

ABSOLUTELY LOVE Magnolia Hall.
What a gorgeous venue.
Unfortunately they were booked for my date, but I did check out the place and meet with Barbara…I think it was.
Magnolia Hall was my number one choice.

Yeah, this place is insanely gorgeous . . . but they book up over a year in advance on Saturdays!
Piedmont Park is also remodeling their ‘pool house’ into an event facility. We got a tip that they will begin touring it in Jan 09 to be ready to host events by the summer of 2009. Prices are steep though, likely around the $6k Saturday night rental fee!
