so my best friend is a guy and I know I want him to be my man of honor and he’s who I want standing next to me- aside from SO and my parents he’s my biggest cheerleader and someone I can count on no matter what. Now I also have two bridesmaids planned: 1- my sister who lives across the country and will only be able to show up a day beforehand and 2- my close female friend. Now she is really into all the planning and logistics stuff with me and I kinda want her to be my maid of honor since she is taking on a bigger role in the actual wedding and I think it would be a nice gesture.
Is that bad? To have a man AND a maid of honor and then a bridesmaid?

No not at all. I think you should do and honor whoever is closest in your life and regardless of their gender. However you want to do it is perfect. Its YOUR day!

Did you end up having both a man of honor and a maid of honor? My best friend is a male and I want him to be my man of honor, but my oldest friend is a female and I think it would be great to include her as a maid of honor since she’s very artistic and will probably help with a lot of planning and decorating. I would also have other one male and one other female in my bridal party. I would have my maid of honor stand closest to me, then man of honor, female bridesmaid, and male attendant. I just feel like if I have two people named “of honor” it kind of divides the party and might make the other two not feel as special, especially since I am picking from my friends and not just becaue they are family.
