My best friend is my Maid of Honor while my older sister is my Matron of Honor! Your wedding you make the rules!!!  Who knows you may need another person to help you hold up your wedding dress while you pee!!!!!

I have 2 very close friends. One I’ve known since childhood who is my Maid of Honor and one that I met in college who is my Matron of Honor.

Go for it!

I had my sister in law as my matron of honor and my little sister (22) as my maid of honor. Go for it!

Call them what ever you want, and its fine to have both. But I’m pretty sure the only difference between a maid of honor and a matron of honor is the matron of honor is a woman who is married and a maid of honor is a woman who is unmarried.

It’s fine if you want her, but you don’t have to have both a maid and a matron if you don’t want.

hollysmith92:  It’s absolutely fine. I asked my sister to be matron of honor and then my best friend to be maid of honor.

hollysmith92:  I did exactly this! I had my best friend as my Maid of Honor and my Sister-in-law as the Matron of Honor. My brother was also a groomsman and we made sure to match them up and have them walk down the isle/into the reception together. It worked out really well!!

My SIL was my Matron of Honor and her husband was a groomsman – no biggie!

My sister, who got married one year before me, was my matron of honor and my best friend was my maid of honor. And I did ask my SIL to be a bridesmaid. It’s your wedding and your friends. 🙂
