I am trying not to freak out and I’m hoping this board can provide some suggestions.
I emailed my bridesmaids and maid of honor back in May, 8 months ago! In my message, I selected about 5 different styles of dresses that I wanted them to select from. I wanted them to find a dress that suited their individual body types. In the message, I gave them a time frame as to when they needed to order their dresses and explained how long it took for dresses to come in and also how long it takes for alterations. In the email, I explicitly stated that I would not stay on top of them as that was their responsibility. In any case, in speaking to my bridesmaids over the holidays, I learned that all but one had failed to get their dresses. Soooo, they all went out and purchased their dress yesterday. The problem is, that my wedding is two months away and as a result, there is only ONE dress that is long, satin, and pewter, that can be ordered to arrive by the week before the wedding. Every other dress will not arrive until the following month.
Ok, now my dilemma is, my maid of honor was one of those girls that purchased yesterday. So, this means that my maid of honor will match the other bridesmaids. One of bridesmaids had gone out and ordered her dress in a timely fashion. She already has her dress but now the problem is that her dress is different from everyone else’s so it’s going to look like she is the maid of honor when in fact, she isn’t. I considered asking them to swap (I think they’re the same size) but I wouldn’t want to do that because I feel as if I’d be penalizing her for doing what she was supposed to do. It wouldn’t be fair to her to have to wear a dress she didn’t choose just so that my maid of honor (who didn’t what she was supposed to) can look different from the rest.
Sorry for the lengthy message but just figured I’d explain in detail what the problem is. Thanks for reading.
