I am having my sister stand with me as my maid of honor, the only girl standing with me, the price of her dress really could be expensive, she’s the only dress in my party. I’m kind of excited.
Only thing is, she’s 16 … I don’t know what the perfect dress is. My wedding is more formal, black tie preferred …
If you could get haveyour maid of honor where any dress, what is the dream dress you’d pick out? It must be floor length, right … since it’s black tie?
So confused. I need some advice!

Are you paying for her dress? Most 16 year old’s don’t have a lot of money. Or are your parents? "Expensive" can mean a lot of things.
Black tie…i’d pick a lovely cocktail dress. What color would you like her to wear? Start there.
Since she is 16, i’m not sure i’d let her pick it out herself….16 year olds don’t really have an idea of what’s good for a wedding. Their taste is more prom-esque. And if you go off that, well, there is a lot of risque stuff on the shelves for prom right now.
This is very $$$ but gorgeous: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3021358/0~2376776~2374327~2374331~6014150?mediumthumbnail=Y&origin=category&searchtype=&pbo=6014150&P=1
Also what kind of body type does your sister have? That could really dictate what kind of dress she’d be most comfortable in.
If it was me, I’d want my sister to look just as gorgeous as me so I’d pick something super glamorous, maybe a hollywood knock off dress or something. Obviously not as fancy as your dress, but you know what i mean

I really like the suggestions already given! I think she should wear long, both because it is a formal event and because it won’t make her look like a 16 year old (but not too grown up). I would suggest looking through magazines with her and see what styles she likes. I also like the idea of finding something that might work for a prom or another type of formal.
