@satsumaflower: I have used them before and make sure you do a sparse cleanup and put away before they come over so they can really clean.

I hate folding clothes and putting away dishes so I made sure I had a clean load of dishes and a few clean loads of clothes for them to tackle. Windows are also not a personal favorite of mine.

I would go for washing floors and windows as well as cleaning the oven/microwave/fridge. One hour does not seem like very long but with 2 people, I imagine you will see some progress. I’m thinking of hiring a maid bi-weekly, please let us know what they were able to accomplish in 1 hour and how satisfied you are with the results considering the cost.

My gran uses a maid service. They come for a couple hours once a month and she has them do the windows and floors, scrub the bathrooms, and move and vacuum under all the furniture that’s too heavy for her, flip the mattresses, etc.

Before they come, find out what supplies you are supposed to have and what they bring. With my gran’s service, they use all natural products like vinegar, baking soda, etc. If the customer wants something else, the customer provides the supplies. They don’t bring rags/paper towels/etc.

I have someone come every other week. Best things are the floors and windows for me. Oh and dusting, like good in the crack and hard to reach area dusting! LOL I think its so worth it. I work full time, plus I volunteer A LOT, so its nice when I CAN BE at home and relax, to not have to worry about cleaning it AS MUCH. Now, I know for some once every other week sounds often maybe….but I foster dogs (three right now) and have 4 of our own rescue dogs, and four rescue cats. My floors need to be done DAILY, as well as vacume and furniture etc…so the one good clean every other week by someone else is SO NICE!

My grandma gifted me a cleaning lady after we had our baby (best baby gift ever!). She comes every other week. She does everything. Mops, vacuums, dusts, deep cleaning the bathrooms and kitchen. It’s such a great feeling to have a clean house, especially when there’s no time to do it!

Our maids come biweekly and bring all their own stuff (but I make them clean with the “baby safe” stuff in the baby’s bathroom…I know, I’m a freak).

I would have them do the blinds (if you have venetian blinds), the baseboards, vacuum and mop the floors.  Give yourself a clean palette to work with, maybe it will motivate you to organize/clean other parts of the house.

(If we didn’t have maids I’m not sure that Darling Husband would organize the house every two weeks…that alone is enough reason for me!)

ETA-Oh and the bathrooms!!  Deep clean the bathrooms.  Those are the dirtiest places in the house, and I hate cleaning them, so I’m glad the maids do it!

i used to have someone come in every other week.  i had him concentrate mainly on the bathroom.  the rest of the house was pretty straight forward — not a lot of clutter or anything.

I have a maid service that comes to our home once a month to help me keep up and I freaking LOOOOOOOOOOVE ITTTTTTTTTTTT.  I have them clean our hardwoods, vacuum, do surfaces, bathrooms, kitchen.  I have them skip the rooms we use less often/never and focus on bathrooms.  I make cuts elsewhere to pay for it (eat cheaper/free food (thanks mom), dont go out as often, drink water instead of soda when we’re out… literally every penny helps) and wouldn’t change a thing.

It took me a couple tries to find a company I love, so be patient.  If you’re not happy, don’t force it.  There’s tons of other companies out there who will be happy to do what you want them to, so there’s no need to settle.  Enjoy!!

One suggestion – my mom once had a maid service and she found that she was better off asking them not to do the sheets. She found that they were consistently “short sheeting” the bed (trying to put the fitted and flat sheets on the wrong way). I’m sure it was just the particular service she had hired, but I know she would tell you to not have them touch the sheets, lol.

We have had a maid service for a couple of months now and it is AMAZING!! I don’t how we survived without it!

She comes biweekly & does everything from ceiling to floor. I’m not sure how many hours she is there (if I had to guess prob like 2 or 3 hours) but I LOVE coming home to a very clean and dust free home!
