There is no etiquette that I know of, so maybe someone else can chime in on that.

But I would just use some random factor to help you line them up. Who have you known longer? Whose taller? Which best man/groomsman are you pairing them with? etc.

I was my sister’s maid of honor and our other sister was her matron of honor.  My sister also had two other BMs.  She just had us go in order of height.  Both my sisters are 5’10", I am 5’6", and the two BMs are 5’6" and 4’10" – so she did it based on height since everyone’s heights were so varied.  It looked nice.  I didn’t hate on my sister for having her not pick me to stand next to her, b/c I would have looked extra puny in between the two of them.

I’m having a maid and a matron, the maid is my sister, the matron is my best friend.  I think I’ll put my sister closest to me, just because she is my sister.  Either way though, I doubt people will notice.

If they won’t care, that’s great! I think the height thing is a good idea. You could also do how long you have known them or alphabetical order.

Let us know what you choose!

Since I have two matrons and 1 maid I’m putting the maid first.  I’m praying it won’t cause any drama.  However the maid lives in the same town as we do, so she is the one who has been with me for all the dress searching etc….so I think that’s fair?

You can always switch up the order between them for the ceremony and reception to be fair.  The person that goes first in the ceremony processional can go second for when they are announced into the reception and vice versa.  Also, if you are having a head table, you can have the person who didn’t stand next to you during the ceremony sit next to you during the reception.

The Matron of Honor is supposed to stand closer, because she’s already married.  It’s a been there, done that, know what she’s doing thing.

I had a maid and matron of honor; I had the maid walk down the aisle last before me, but then the matron stood closest to me for the ceremony.  So they both got a little bit of the spotlight 🙂  They both walked out together with the Best Man and were introduced with him together at the reception.

There isnt an ettiqute guide here because "normally" (as if normal actually exists) there is one or the other since its the same "job" jsut a different name indicating the marital status of the woman.
