I’m thinking of doing this with the Dessy Group (www.dessy.com)

I did Jim Hjelm in the Eggplant Satin.  I accompanied all my maids as they chose their dresses.  It was a great way to bond with them and make sure the dresses chosen weren’t too far off my idea of the gowns.

As long as the material is the same letting them pick their own dreeses helps with differnt body shapes & sizes.  Sounds like a good ideas.

To see this on Dessy Group I did a roundabout thing.  I first selected a color family from the main bridesmaid page.  This limits the dress selection only to dresses that can be ordered in that family.  Then I clicked on one of the dresses I liked.  Here I had the option of picking the specific color I wanted.  Then to the right of the dress there is a link that says "See more dresses in x".  I clicked on that and I could see all the dresses in that color.  You can then narrow it down by fabric.  It’s fairly roundabout and I’m sure there’s another way to do it, that’s just what worked for me.

I would give them a color to work with and let them order their own dress. It will help them with the cost and theyll most likely get a dress that they would wear again.

I found a website that had many styles of dresses and I told my girls to pick out a dress they loved in burgundy. I had originally wanted them all to be tealength but two of them found a floor length they loved so I went ahead and let them get it. All the dresses were $80 or less and the quality was great. The colors were the same even though they ordered them at different times. I would definitely order dresses from them again. http://www.thejustthebeginnings.com
