Just drop them in the mail. They will be fine.

Honestly, you wasted 6 minutes per envelope. No one cares. Just put them in the mail like normal.

So I read about the hand canceling thing too, I asked and the employee just simply said nope, they’ll go through the machine. I don’t think anyone cares especially with STDs.

You realize those envelopes are going in the trash, right?

And even if your post office will hand cancel 160 envelopes (which they probably won’t be willing to do unless it is an extraordinarily slow day because that is a lot of envelopes and post offices have had numerous staffing cutbacks over the years) that only means it doesn’t go through the canceling machine.  It will still go through several sorting machines during the mailing process.

hoosierb :  They’re save-the-dates. Hand cancelling would be way OTT.

No post office is going to hand cancel 100+ envelopes. Sorry you wasted so much time on them but they are going to be thrown away like as soon as people receive them.

Itd be awesome to see a picture of them! If you spent 160hours on these babies they must be amazing! 🙂

Wow! They are gorgeous! I can see why you want them treated carefully.

I am sure they will still look as gorgeous through normal mail. If that is a taste for the wedding to come then I would be pretty damn excited to be a guest.

hoosierb :  These make me swoon but I seriously just can’t convince myself to put so much effort into something that someone will just throw away. I totally appreciate your efforts though!

If you take them to a small remote post office, they may be willing to hand cancel them for you. It isn’t necessarily difficult, it is just time consuming. They will still go through processing machines to be sorted even if they are hand cancelled, they will just skip the cancelling process.

It is just one less belt. To be honest, your envelopes are red, so an office may refuse to cancel them anyways, as we generally use red ink that won’t show up, and the date won’t be seen on them.

ETA: you did a beautiful job on the envelopes though. If you don’t worry about sending bills in, or sending a regular card through the mail, I wouldn’t worry too much about these. Just make sure they are well sealed. We don’t get mangled mail as often as you might think.
