The past few days I’ve been having some serious dress regret. I love my dress….in theory. It’s what I wanted, but there is one major thing that I want to change…..the back. The dress is from the Vera Wang White collection. It’s blush pink, with ruched organza. I’m going to have the neckline made into a sweetheart neckline (right now it’s straight across) but I desperately want to have the back LOWERED. It cuts me right below the shoulder blades, straight across, which creates that back flab flap…..which I don’t normally have. The dress has a zipper though. Can this even be done??? I’m FAR out from my wedding, or alterations time (wedding isn’t until august 2012), and I’m scared!!!! Anyone have similar alterations achieved? What do I do if they can’t change it??

I haven’t done this beofre but if you took your dress to a seastress or tailor I’m sure they would be able to tell you what the go is. I guess they would have to take the zipper out and put in a shorter one?? That doesn’t seem too difficult to me!

Thanks Miss Pinup! I really freaked out and had a major bridal meltdown last night, which is SO un-me! Thing is, I love the dress, but that one tiny detail makes me want to completely freak out and scrap the whole dress….irrational, yes. Going to the seamstress to find out is definitely the way to go. I’m just REALLY afraid of my reaction of they say it’s not possible!

Actually, I have seen other brides do it before. I’ve even seen pictures somewhere around here…I kind of remember it was a post about eliminating back fat without excercising. Basically that bride modified the back and made it into a small “V”. That took care of the problem.
I’m sure you have nothing to worry about, your seemstress will tell you she can do it aaaand you have plenty of time 😉
