- Wedding: May 2010
So before I went dress shopping, I had lost 80 pounds. I was not done, and was planning to be at my goal weight for sure by the wedding (9 months later). Well, that never happened. I lost my momentum and actually am 10 poudns heavier now than when I bought the dress. The dress was a size 12 (off the rack) and I could get it on, just not up at all! I waited for awhile to see if i was going to get there. I accepted that I wasn’t and headed to a good seamstress!
Ripped out the zipper and added a corset
Let out about 2 inches on each side
Added hand made lace at the seam to fill in let out parts
Took in the bust
Rasied the back of the dress with matching fabric to cover “spillage”, and added matching trim at the top in the front
All that, but it didn’t need hemming! LOL
I paid $565 for the dress, and she charged $450 for alterations. I think she did a good job and it was totally worth her time!
Here’s some pics! It’s amazing what a good seamstress can do!
