I watched Jaws when it first came out, I must have been around 10, (my parents snuck me in…), and I was scared for two weeks afterwards, I even looked under my bed every night!

I have this completely ridiculous fear of being robbed or killed in my apartment.  When DH is out of town, I sleep with all the doors and windows locked, including my bedroom and bathroom door.  The master bath locks from the outside connecting to our room, so I lock that too.

I live in a completely safe area, but still.  LOL!

@KatNYC2011:  I have this same fear and am afraid of kids too because of that reason.

I have severe a

phobia (spiders), I can’t even say/hear the words without my skin getting itchy! If I see a picture or one on TV I get really itchy and I scratch and think I feel one on me every other second. (I often tell my SO that I strongly believe it should be illegal to show images of them without a warning first). And if I see one in real life then it’s all downhill from there!! I absolutely cannot smash one, the only way I can kill it on my own is with bug spray and that’s only if it’s small. If I find (or hear about) one in a room or on an item the room or item gets quarantined for a lengthy period of time (which can be a very long time if it was never confirmed dead). It was the worst the years that I was in Ireland. Believe it or not I had more close encounters with the little creeps in Ireland than in Florida. Eeesh… *Shivers* it was horrible! I came face to face with one almost every day, and toward the end of our years there I was so twitchy that people were probably starting to wonder if I was nuts. (Just as you all are probably beginning to think the same thing =P ). We are moving into a new apartment this weekend and I am secretly reeling in the fact that we’re going to have two bathrooms, so now if I find one in the main bathroom I can just quarantine it for a month and use the other bathroom.

I’m glad I’m not the only one scared of the dark. I didn’t realize so many people would agree. I don’t think you could pay me enough to watch that movie that came out a little while ago “don’t be afraid of the dark” or something like that. I couldn’t even watch the commercials!

Sometimes when DH wants me to hurry up and come to bed he’ll turn off the light in the living room and I come running to the bedroom bc he’ll leave the light on in there! He knows me too well I think. Grr

@MrsElle:  lol glad I’m not alone on the butterfly thing! They just fly so… erratic!  I was shocked at my reaction honestly, and my friends were laughing their butts off lol.  I don’t blame them!

I also hate birds, but not all the time.  Its when its dusk and I’m in some parking lot of like a  grocery store and the trees are just completely filled with those black birds (maybe this doesn’t happen everywhere else, but in Texas we have these crow-like birds called grackles).  It scared the crap out of me that there are just these black birds EVERYWHERE!  My skin is starting to crawl right now.

And btw, I am a major clustery things phobic (meaing trypophobia) as well.  My skin is STILL crawling from the last phobia thread where I learned the official name of it (after YEARS of people thinking I was insane).

snakes — DH had to force me to go into the area at our zoo that had the local snakes so I could tell if one was dangerous or not.  I only did it for the sake of our dogs.

enclosed spaces — We went on a tour of a cave in North Carolina.  There was an area where everyone crowded onto this short, narrow walkway.  I flipped out!  I suspected I had a fear of tight spaces, but didn’t know it was that bad.

heights, especially mountain roads with no guardrails — I hate the freaking Blue Ridge Parkway!

this is wierd i know, but odd numbers. 😡 i cant begin to tell you how many things ive had to buy in even just to avoid that. sometimes i cant which i stress over. but i dont like them :/

crossing the street! no matter how much i hit the button to cross a busy street i HATE crossing it, have a fear ill get hit.i usually wait until other people are coming to cross so i dont have to alone.

cruise ships, ever since i watched titanic as a kid i wont get on one. fi suggested it for a honeymoon but i quickly shot that idea down. it doesnt help when i see horrible stories of people going missing or boats turning over in the news. ugh

i also am not a fan of dragon flies, praying mantis, spiders the usual insects.

Ugh. I hate spiders, but it’s Fiance who sees mandibles of doom when he finds them in the house. Although if they are on the wall or ceiling, I make him do it. I am afraid they might jump on me.

I HATE roaches. We have these enormous bird-like ones that freaking FLY!

But the absolute worst? June Bugs. ickyickyicky. They fly around under our tree in the front yard, just waiting to get stuck in my hair. My neighbors have seen me outside running in circles, shreiking and swatting at my head. They make the most horrible sounds. They buzz when they get stuck in your hair. They mindlessly fly into our windows at night when the inside lights are on. Creepy-icky

I used to be really scared of elevators – those movies where the cable snaps suddenly really got me. I would get all sweaty and pace the whole time I was in it.  I think it went away after I had to keep taking them to go to the orthodontist every week.

Ok here’s a weird one: Sunken ships or really anything under deep water that shouldn’t be there. Or like the thought of being on a big sinking ship as it’s going down and being sucked under and knowing it’s under me. Ugh, gives me goosebumps just thinking about it! I have NO idea where this came from but I recently found out my sister has the same phobia. We’ve never had any water trauma and I love the ocean, but don’t like being out in deep water because I always think something could be under me.

Also, these gross centipedes we get in our house, and wolf crickets! Ewwwww!
