I am not sure that this is possible.

What you are explaining is the most basic concept of the internet. When you google something the search engine searches within all websites to find matches of the googled term. It then lists all matches with the highest popularity (from a website with a lot of hits) first – and weddingbee gets a lot of hits.

I think it is always important to remember to use caution what you put on the internet but I am not sure you can take away what is already done.

It’s possible – they can just do a “robots.txt” with a do not follow command.

I created a username that I don’t use anywhere else, just because people can be sneaky when it comes to cyberstalking.

Possible but not feasible. The vast majority of us probably found this site because it came up in search results. Blocking Google would make this site fizzle and die.

It does suck and I’m very aware of this which is why I cant upload pics of myself or give away my location because I really dont want anyone who knows me to be able to read my posts afterwards. Its actually bothering me alot now because I really wanted to do a recap post so bees can see all the DIY projects in action but then after while I’d like to take the pics down but weddingbee doesnt let you do that

@Keltaena: Thanks for posting this on the idea thread. I am going now to vote. this is the biggest thing I dont like about wedding bee. i hope they fix it.

@FMM: I get what you are saying but actually this is very possible! of course people can google and find random posts but the fact that a non-wedding bee user (someone without an account) can see your profile and all your posts IS POSSIBLE to restrict. Wedding be can and should restrict the profile option to ONLY wedding bee account holders. The profile feature is great for wedding bee account holders but non-wedding bee users should be restrticted from seeing this. I hope this clears it up and you will come vote 🙂

I agree, it isn’t possible to make our usernames un-searchable in google, however I would like to able to edit or delete previous posts!

people please read below for an explaination of what she is requesting. I dont think some of you are understanding this request completly…..

She is not asking for posts and thread to be unsearchable. She is asking for the profile feature to not be avilable to non-weddingbee users. So, that means that someone can search and find any thread or post on wedding bee but that they could NOT click on your user name and see all threads and posts you have ever touched in on place. it is very possible for wedding bee to just restrict that feature to non-wedddingbee account holders.

There are no requirements to join WB, anybody can create an account. If they stumble across a random post you made and want to read more of your posts, all they have to do is register.

A search bot doesn’t care about your profile and posts. And will find all the same threads with or without “member only profile viewing”.

If you’re worried about individuals finding that information, this still does nothing. Like I mentioned before, all they need to do is register.

It’s best just to remember everything you put on the internet is public.

I do agree with this. People should be able to delete their posts/pictures.

@abbyful: I honestly dont think most people will take the time to register. They would have to be seriously stalking you to do that. and if someone wants to find info on you that bad then yes they will. t. you are so right that what we put online is public and everyone needs to keep that in mind. but there are also restriction features that can and should be used.

For me, this request is just so if someone is randomly searching wedding stuff (or your name purhapse) they might come accross some threads that you have posted on but i fthey click on  your name they will get a restriction error. Most people will not go register to stalk you (unless their sole purpose is to stalk you). I am just saying it would be more difficult to find that stuff…
