At the Sephoras I’ve been to, you can just walk in and ask for a consult.

As a follow-up, if you go into Sephora, get a consultation, and hate the look, do you have to buy anything?  Do you pay/tip the MUA?

No, at Sephora you generally ask for a consult with a specific department (e.g., eyes, foundation, etc.), and they don’t charge for this.  You can have multiple consults too.  You don’t have to buy anything either.  They won’t do your whole face, though, like if you were getting your makeup professionally done for an event.

so, just to be sure I understand, I can’t just walk in and say “make me look like a bride”?  I have to pop from section of the store to section of the store to get a complete look?

@JillBill: Right. I wouldn’t count on them being able to do a complete bridal look. I think the consults are just for them to do a section of your face in hopes that you’ll buy the product they end up using on you.
