I think it depends on the salon. Salons like AA and DB wont say a word to you about your makeup, but higher end salons may (though I haven’t come across this…). I would definately wear some though, and style your hair a litte so you can get a good impression of how the dress looks on you made-up. I wouldn’t go all out, but a “natural” trial should be fine.

most of the dresses that I have tried on, I’ve had to step into, so there was no risk in having the makeup rub off onto the dress.

I think it’ll be fine! And if you are given a gown to try on that would require putting it over your head, you can always ask the consultant to help you out 🙂

Usually the consultant helps you into the dress and they make sure getting make up on the dress isn’t an issue. However, trying on wedding dresses for a few hours can get really hot. I was literally sweating at one appointment, and I’m not one to get hot easily. You don’t want to be sweating off a ton of make up at your appointment.

@McVerde: I second the heat. You get really sweaty and gross. I went with no makeup, but I don’t wear it on a daily basis anyway. I liked the idea of having a clean slate so I can really focus on the dress. The makeup doesn’t “make” the total look IMO, it’s the dress.
