I’ve been using the same foundation for a while and I’m not a fan. It’s Mac, powder. It’s really heavy and comes off onto my clothes or hands when I touch my face while I’m wearing it. Does anyone have any suggestions for a brand or type of foundation that is light but won’t come off? I get super self-conscious about hugging people when I’m wearing it so I usually don’t unless it’s a special occasion. Thanks for your help!

@tresim36: I typically use Black Opal cream-to-powder foundation, to me the coverage is just as good as MAC but lighter and less expensive – however it has the same rub off issues which I know is annoying. I work with documents a lot and if I’m not careful, end up smudging them up! Hope someone has some good suggestions for you!

Have you tried using a setting spray on top of your makeup? Any makeup will have some degree of transfer, and setting spray is used to ‘fix’ it in place. Urban Decay makes some good ones, and I think ELF has a cheap one too.

I use L’oreal paris true match and It fits me sooooo very well.
Paid more for mac but was more satisfied with L’oreal

Maybe it’s just that you’re not using a primer. With any of the powder foundations, you have to use a primer to keep it on.
I suggest that since you have no complaints about the MAC color on your skin, which is the biggest concern ever for AA women, try one of the liquid foundations and always use a little primer to help with its staying power. I’ve never met a foundation that doesn’t rub off after a few hours unless there was a primer used.
Oh, and make sure to use a primer made for your face. Yes the ingredients in chafing gel is the same, but in different amounts so that it’s less likely to clog your pores. Use very little and I often just finger it onto my T-Zone where I’m most oily and smooth it out to other areas to make sure I use just a little bit.
Hope that helps 🙂

I have tried about about every foundation under the sun and have yet to find one that passes the rub off test. However, Mehron makes this interesting product called “Barrier Spray” that really does reduce product transfer. You’re supposed to spray it on but I don’t because it leaves shiny, sticky dots all over my face. I spray two spritzes on a stippling brush and then stipple it all over my face(after setting my makeup with powder, of course). It works well 🙂

Thanks everyone! I’m not much of a make-up person so all of your tips helped. I will look into primers and a setting spray.
@Mrs Scott to be: i’ll check L’Oreal out as well.

I have worn Revlon’s Color Stay liquid foundation with a Mac loose powder for years and probably will until the day I die! I get compliments on it all the time and I actually prefer it to the Mac foundation. Also, I use setting spray here and there for my eye makeup but I dont like how it makes my skin feel so I wouldn’t recommend using it all the time or on your entire face. That’s just me though.

Have you tried fashion fair? It’s really great…made for us. It’s sold at Macy’s where I live. I really like their foundations.

Cover girl queen collection is pretty good makes you look more naturally made up. I have tried Mac as well as fashion fair and Mary Kay and bare minerals( severely allergic to that one). I am going to try loreal though true
