Hi bees! I have a small question. I’ve been looking for a MUA and I found one that seems good and reasonably priced. My wedding is only in october but she said that before booking her, I should see if I like her work so I should do my trial now. I asked her if it wasn’t a bit early to do my trial now and she said that it wouldn’t be my real wedding trial, that it would be like max 3 weeks before the wedding. She said that now would be like a trial only to see if I like her cause it’d be the first time that she puts make up on me. I don’t really know too much about MUA, the only time I had my make up done was at the end of highschool and it was at a pharmacy…
So, is this something people usually do? A trial before a trial? I wasn’t planning on paying for 2 make up trials, I just want to be sure that it’s how it usually go down, to be sure I’m not paying for nothing.

eh. I’d do it if you have a reason to get your make-up done, like your enagement shoot or something. Unless she’s offering to do it for free, of course.

Does she have a portfolio? I don’t think most people have 2 trials, but I guess what she’s saying makes sense if you have no other way to evaluate her work.

Nope, she isn’t offering for free! It’s a littler cheaper than the day of the wedding though. And I have no real reason to get my make up done before the wedding… So it’d really be a session just to see if I like the way she put make up on me

Hmmm…the purpose of a trial is to do a practice run after you’ve already agreed to do business so a trial before a trial seems strange to me.
FWIW…I did have two trials but one was for my engagement shoot and it was a totally different look than my wedding look. And it was after I had already booked my MUA..

Not everyone has two trials, however I was in a situation where I had my trial 3 weeks before the wedding like usual, and it was AWFUL. Like, no way was I using their services for the wedding awful. So then I was in a major panic and had to get another trial from someone else with just 3 weeks to go… so at least this way that won’t happen to you!
