What kind of veil do you want? If you’re thinking of a shorter kind like elbow lenght then it will be ridicilously easy to make. I initially was thinking of making my own and bought a beautiful fabric but then realized that since I want a cathedral veil it would be really hard for me to cut it evenly. So I went to seamstress who charged me about $30 for making a one tier cathedral veil with raw edge – that’s obviously the cheapest kind but that’s what I wanted. So total cost of my veil including fabric will be around $50 which I think is pretty awesome 🙂

But when I was thinking of doing it all on my own I was planning on using this pattern: http://www.chicaandjo.com/2008/04/08/make-your-own-wedding-veil/ Seems really easy to me. Good luck, you definitely can do that!

I didnt make my own (I borrowed my sister’s) but I have made several for friends. Vogue Patterns have some veil patterns but you honestly don’t need a pattern.

Just fold the fabric in half and cut the shape you’re after (generally a long triangle shape with rounded corners – so it almost looks like a big teardrop). Then gather it in around 18 inches (depending on your height) and hand-stitch on a comb.

You can get some lace trim and stitch it around the edge, glue some crystals or just leave it raw.

Just a word of warning – make sure the tulle you purchase is the right shade of white/ivory!
