ally – I think it really varies. I’ve heard of some charge about $200 and some as much as $400. It really depends on the mua. I think the important thing to consider is 1) do you like their job, and 2) is it in your budget. And i guess you can also consider if you would pay that much for the service? It’s really up to you.

My MUA only charging $75 and I get to keep the make-up. She’s not charging for travel because she’s a friend of a Bridesmaid or Best Man. Hair’s going to be $50, and I don’t think they’re charging for travel either (but I’m not sure because she just quoted me a total price for me and BM’s). BUT I’m in TN, which I believe has a much lower cost of living than LA. So that sounds pretty good, especially if she’s really good.

My MUA was $100 for me plus a $40 travel fee.

My hair was $450 with a $40 travel fee.

I’ve had two makeup run-throughs, and talked to four artists, and my bids were all over the place. Lowest was by the hour — $45/hour flat. Highest was a package deal — $575 for the bride and two other people, and then $165 per person after that for additional bridesmaids, plus $50 for travel. All of my hair quotes have been between $75 and $115. (And I’m located in the Portland area, so should be somewhat lower in price than LA.)

When I had my makeup done in LA, I paid a little more than $200 for hair and makeup in their studio, and that wasn’t even wedding related. So I’d say that $380 for on-site wedding makeup (with a run-through before the wedding) is pretty reasonable.

I know an artist who is offering a special for a limited time.  you can email her at [email protected]  (not real sure of the address)

her site is http://www.chaillingsmakeup.com

If that’s not it, go to my DOC’s Website, go to the Vendor referral page and click on the makeup artist/hair stylist.  You can email her or get the number from her site.

Tell her you got her info from Kami at Planned Elegance and I believe the special is $280 for make up,false eyelashes and basic updo.  She’ll do a free trial, but you have to go to her.  If you hire her, the $280 includes travel fee (with 20miles of Venice,CA)

I don’t know when you have to book or if there is limitation as far as dates go.

good luck

That sounds average for LA/OC. I’ve heard that kelly zhang and susie chour are both very good hair and make up artists, and they are pretty cheap for LA/OC, so maybe check them out of you haven’t already. I can’t even afford their prices, though, so it looks like I’m doing all my hair and make up myself. ugh.
