I’m getting married in San Francisco in September and I think I’m going to do my own makeup. I’ve looked for a long time and I haven’t found anybody (that i liked) for under $250 JUST for makeup.

I had a trial at Bobbi Brown and really liked the look, so I bought the makeup she used. I would suggest doing the same, or doing a trial at your favorite makeup counter, then ask one of the girls if they do any freelance work. A lot of them do and can come and do it for you on that day for a lot less than what you might pay someone else. They also might know someone who does hair. Just a suggestion.

 Good luck!

I am going have a friend do my makeup (she’s not a pro but knows what she is doing, and we are going to practice!). I haven’t figured out my hair yet. I would check it out on yelp if I were you!

I’m using Pink Diamond Artistry.  He’s from SoCal, but his prices and travel fees are reasonable.  He uses a sliding scale (the more people he does, the less per person it costs), but for one person it’s $160 for hair and makeup.  You can PM me if you want more info.

@mspinks27:  Wow thats expensive! I was not expecting to pay that much! I was thinking $150, then perhaps a $100 trial or so. hmmm. Maybe my friend will do my hair also.

I booked Jessica with Ethereal Salon (http://www.etherealsalon.com/) in SF for my engagement photos.  She was very good, super sweet, and affordable for the Bay Area.  My wedding is a semi destination so I hired an artist local to my venue for the wedding, but would hire Jessica again in a heartbeat.  My hair looked amazing and she did my make-up beautifully.   It was $150 for on site hair and make-up for the engagement shoot.

Try Nini. I think she’s with A list. She’s good. Her prices were $300 for both hair and makeup. Not sure how much it’s now.
