I’m a newbie when it comes it makeup. My daily look stems from my previous life as a manager at an Aveda salon, however I’ve been branching out into the higher end product lines.
I would love your recommendations for makeup brushes. What kinds, what they should do, and which ones to purchase.

Sonia Kashuk makes some pretty darn good ones and they carry them at Target.
I really like IT Cosmetics foundation brushes from Ulta Beauty.
Aso try a beauty blender for foundation, it’s pretty cool.
Makeup brushes are a personal preference, and it vary by price as well: it depend how much money you want to invest in brushes.

I usually only use high end stuff but Fiance got me these:
and I use them all the time now. The foundation / blush / countour ones especially. The eye ones I don’t use as much.
I like Urban Decay eye brushes. The essential blending brush for eye makeup is a mac #217. It’s pretty pricey though, and the Crown Brush C433 is a great dupe for a much lower price.

For affordable brushes I LOVE the real technique brushes. Ror high end, really I have never tried a high end brush I didn’t like. IT cosmetics, sephora and tarte are some of the high end brands I have and theyre all great.
I always say the basics you really need include a fluffy brush for powder, a dense brush for cream products, and a small fluffy brush to blend eyeshaow (you can add an angled brush for eyeliner) Every other brush just gets into more detail but those usually are multi-purpose and are what I take when I travel if I want to narrow it down.

I use Real Techniques. They work well for me! But IT brushes are super nice.

Morphe! Great brushes and super affordable!

I also came to suggest Morphe! They are great for anyone just starting out. Good quality and inexpensive! Their eye shadow palettes are great too.

I like and use the Sephora brushes. It depends on the makeup you are using and your skin. Some of my brushes work with certain foundations better.

Thank you everyone! I’m willing to spend more money for a quality brush. What I struggle with is what type of brush and good brands, so thank you for this information! I’m really excited to build a collection of brushes!
