I have used makeup for decades, but have only recently started trying to learn about proper techniques etc. Anyway, I wanted to buy some sigma makeup brushes as recommended by Jaclyn Hill. However they are out off my price range. 🙁
I saw these great ones on light in the box and am thinking about buying them.
However I am wondering how I will know which brush to use for what, since there are so many in each set? Jaclyn Hill went through the Sigma collection explaining what the brushes were for and that made it easy, but, as I said, I simply cannot afford the Sigma brushes right now.
Also, do you makeup gurus think these brush sets look good?
I do not live in the US, so cannot go to Sephora or buy from a US only site.

I would get the set from Coastal Scents. They’re a great brand, and I actually prefer them to my Sigma brushes. Because the Sigma brushes are made of natural hair, they shed all over your face. The synthetic brushes are actually better because they stay put!

Which set there? In general, how would I know which brush to use?

@Bainise2013: i have this set: http://www.coastalscents.com/brushes/sets-and-cases/br-set-011.html i love it. they’re the only brushes, aside from a couple random ones from other companies, that i use.
i’ll make you a list of what i use for what type of makeup if you want.

found this on pinterest but I suggest you do a bit more research on youtube. Everyone has different preferences on their application techniques and it also depends on what look you are trying to achieve. I agree with the previous bee Coastal Scents is good, as well as BH Cosmetics and Crown Brush make good brush kits. Good Luck
these are Sigma brushes but many of the same brushes come in different kits.

You also dont need a million brushes to do your makeup, especially if you don’t wear much. As long as you have some good basic brushes you are set!

That many make up brushes for that cheap always makes me nervous. You don’t even really need that many brushes anyways. Costal Scents brushes are good and so are Real Techniques brushes.

My favourite brushes are Real Techniques made by Samantha Chapman who is Pixiwoo on youtube. I have never had expensive brushes before, but I really like these. She has sets and individual brushes: http://realtechniques.com/shop-collection

@Bainise2013: you should check out the elf studio brush set. Their flat top face brush is aaaaaamazing. I use it more than my $32 foundation brush. I just got it for my mom and she loves them! They are pretty sturdy.
As for brands like coastal scents and BH cosmetics… I used to love them! I bought several palettes from them. However, I found out they but their brushes and palettes from Chineswhole sellers and then stamp their names on the front. I ended up buying the exact same palette I had paid around $20 for from coastal scents for like $6 on a different site.

Do you have any links for where I could get coastalscent brushes on these cheaper sites? Feel free to pm me.

@Bainise2013: I couldn’t find the exact set, but I have ordered a brush set from http://www.dresslink.com/ for a friend and she loved them so much that she bought 3 more sets. If you look they also have a lot of the same palettes as coastal scents.
Ebay is also a great place to look. Just search “22 pc brush set”, and you get a lot of results. If you are just starting with makeup I suggest grabbing some of the eyeshadow palettes and stuff too. I am in love with the ebay concealer palette and blush palette.

I use mostly Real Techniques and Bdellium tools. I’ve tried MAC and they shed like crazy!

@Bainise2013: wow, that’s a lot of brushes for the price. I’m cautious about buying cheaper brushes. I heard Sedona lace is good as well. I use sigma and those brushes are great! Also I heard from MUA and YouTube gurus that Sonia Kashuk makeup brushes are awesome. I considered getting the brush set online for $55. They carry the Sonia kashuk line at Target.

@Bainise2013: I personally would not purchase a set that was that cheap. My concern would be that they won’t last long.

I like the ones from ecotools

@val_toro: I love the Sonia Kashuk brushes also. I also like Sigma and Real Techniques. Personally, I would get 2-3 brushes at a time vs trying to get a whole bunch at once just because they are inexpensive.
