I really love my Maybelline super stay, which I plan to use on my wedding day.  I will prpbably make a few alterations to my daily routine (a little darker eye shadow and lip).  i did my everyday make up for our e-pics, and it looked great.  I was afraid it would look sort of “blah”.

With that being said, our wedding is a more casual affair.  But just my two cents.

Oh, wait. Before I forget.   I recently learned that mineral make up doesnt necessarily photograph well with flash.  Just something to keep in mind.  (For all those non-pro pics guests will take)

I’m quite far out from thinking about wedding makeup yet, but I totally intend to do my own makeup for my day. My favorite foundation ever is Mac Pro Longwear, and that’s probably the foundation I’ll use unless by some miracle I found a new I liked better. It’s awesome and it lasts for hours and hours, and it has a very natural finish.

I used L’Oreal True Match–the same foundation I wear every day. It’s fairly inexpensive and it doesn’t wear off as easily as other brands I’ve tried.

I used Givenchy Photo Perfexion.  It’s a little on the expenive side.  I went to Sephora planning on getting Make Up Forever but the woman there had me try the MUFE and also the Givenchy.  The Givenchy felt awesome and matched my skin way better.  It stayed all day.  The MUFE was kind of dry and cakey compared to it.

The only thing I would recommend is to make sure whatever you get will show well in pictures. Some foundation will make your face look chalky in pictures. My cousin did my make-up and used Mac products for the foundation and powder. It lasted all day. Even in the pictures of me at the end of the night on the dance floor my make up still looks fresh.

Any of the make-up counters will do a trial for you. Have them do up your face. Bring a camera, and take some pictures afterward in a few different lighting options.

A store like Sephora is also a good option because they have so many brands to choose from, and their sales people are educated and can help you choose what’s best for you.

For me personally, I use Mac for my every day make-up, and my cousin who’s make-up artisit likes it for brides. It is made to be used for photo shoots, and to hold up for all day wear. It is a little expensive, but I feel like it’s worth the investment.

My daily foundation is BareMinerals, but I have read in several places on the bee to NOT wear anything powder because it creates some reflection or something that isn’t good for your photos. So I bought a (inexpensive) bottle of Maybelline Superstay for it’s long wearing ability (or so it says)   I did my makeup myself and it lasted all day long with out a single touchup. Here is a pic from our reception..

I’d suggest Mac or Napoleon with their primer (primer is a MUST for all day!) those two can be expensive (if Mac’s not in the us please tell me some where I can order it from lol) but they last well beyond what you’ll need 😀

I won’t be a DIY, but I wanted to suggest Chanel.  I always get compliments on my skin when I wear it (I prefer the matter versus the lumiere since my skin is naturally semi-oily).  If you want something lighter, I personally also like Shiseido… Not heavy and doesn’t look like you have any foundation on.   I know a lot of people like MAC, but I found MAC foundations are too heavy and tend to sit in my pores :/  That’s just my preference though.

@TeamMcGowan:  Wow, I love your makeup!  You look beautiful!

Oh, you can invest in a primer to help your foundation stay longer?  I like Smashbox Photofinish but I haven’t tried out a lot of foundation primers. I’m sure Revlon and the other drugstore brands should have some!  I find it also helps to smooth out lines and pores before putting on foundation.

As far as foundation primer… I read somewhere on Weddingbee about using Monistat Anti Chafing Gel as foundation primer.  Apparently it has the same ingredients as Smashbox.  Needless to say, I was curious and had to try it. I think it works great. I have never tried Smashbox, so I cannot compare.  But IMO, it worked as well as other primers I have bought.  It costs about $5 at the drugstore and lasts a couple months.

It is always worth a shot.  I have been using it as primer since September 🙂

@CholeLeAnn:  That’s so interesting!  I would have never guessed, lol!  I’ve heard drugstore concealer sticks work great as an eyelid primer versus buying a more expensive primer specific to the eyes 🙂
