Hi! I’m struggling to find a camera-ready makeup option that won’t cost me hundreds of dollars. Will using the free services of the ladies at my local Clinique counter be all right, do you think, or should I keep looking for something different? Whenever I do my makeup or have my mother do it, I feel like I look great in person/in the mirror, but I always hate my makeup in the pictures. Any thoughts on this are appreciated!

I’m actually checking out a youtube tutorial at this VERY moment! (paused it to finish loading lol)
you may want to check it out too
For the primer though I’d use Monistat Chaffing gel… it’s the EXACT same ingredients and having used both that and the Smashbox you can’t tell the difference in feel, lasting, or coverage, but the monistat is about 7 bucks for 3 times as much 😉
Oh and on her tutorial she basically used all drugstore make up and brushes! =)
EDIT: The Coastal Scents eyeshadow pallete she uses is DIRT cheap and I’ve found it on TONS of tutorials… very nice!

Try the Mac counter instead of Clinique! : )
Those girls are usually amazing and the makeup really stays put nicely.
Or maybe a beauty school student?

There’s also a great blog post called “Ace Your Face” on here I follow it for application but use different product… I personally don’t like MAC b/c it’s sooo heavy feeling.
I do like Smashbox & you can get their starter kit for 50 bucks.. I then use my warmth from bare minerals along with a cheek color.
Face stay ALL day… even after my afternoon nap on Sundays and through our Young Adults service that night.. even good enough for being on camera and shoot our announcements in the afternoon.
Check her posting out… easy apply and stays sooooooo good 😉

So I’ve finally decided to do my own bridal make-up and I also watched a you tube video that was so helpful and the look was really gorgeous (the girl is kind of annoying but…as long as the final product was decent, that’s all that matters)
maybe it can help you too!

There are a few makeup tips to keep in mind when you’re having your picture taken. First of all, USE BRONZER lol. The flash of the camera has a tendency to bleach our your skin and causing you to look white or blotchy. Also make sure to use a dark eyeliner (black or dark brown) because you need the define your eyes. Fake lashes are nice too if you can apply them properly, since lashes tend to also get faded. Use a finishing powder (I love the one form Benefit) to prevent a shiny face. Finally, if you have smaller eyes, resist the urge to use a ton of shadow because although it looks glamorous in the mirror up close, it will only make your eyes look small in pictures.
Here is a nice and simple overview of general tips: http://www.bobpardue.com/glamour-makeup/
