I’m choosing between 2 final vendors for hair & makeup. Both are competent and top of their field but one is a professional makeup artist who is also well versed in hair versus the other is a hair stylist by profession who also offers makeup. Since they both offer both sets of services and are supposed to be top of their field, I think it comes down to which more important on the wedding day and which service requires more expertise.

I’m of the opinion that it’s much more difficult to do make-up really well than it is to do hair. Don’t get me wrong, being a hairstylist is really difficult too. But when it comes to your wedding day, I think the make-up is what stands out the most. It’s what will be in every single shot, no matter the angle. I’m sure it’ll all turn out beautifully regardless of your choice, but I’d go with the make-up artist!

I’m of the opposite opinion: wedding hair is more important and requires more skill than make-up. People are going to notice your hairstyle more than your eye-liner. And the pics will showcase your hair and veil far more than your lip color. Get the pro hairdresser-that’s my two cents:)

i would say makeup is more important but would spring for both (makeup artist and hair stylist) if you possibly can.

This is a hard one to choose one or the other, as I’ve also pondered the same thing. I think both are important, but you can decide which one is harder for you to achieve the look that you desire. If you struggle with hair, then pay for someone else to do it, but make sure they’re the best. I’m practicing right now with makeup and hair to see which one I can pull off doing myself. I’m hoping I can do both. I’d say practice with makeup and hair on your own, if you’re trying to save money, like me. Talk with your hairstylist or someone you know who knows about how to make their hair look good, and ask them about which products and hair tools to use. I’m going to visit my hairstylist in a couple of days and she’s going to help me get the look that I want as well as give recommendations for what styling tools to get. Then I’m going to practice in the few weeks that I have left. But it’s definitely time consuming, although I’m enjoying it. After all, you’ll acquire the skills to make yourself look beautiful for the rest of your life.
