I use(d) Monistat Chaffing Gel as my primer….. same ingredients as Smashbox Photofinish Primer…

It does have silica in it, but I didn’t have any problems with shine…. I’ve only gotten one pic back, but my makeup looks(ed) great and I did it myself.

I used Ms. Rainbow’s blog post for application minus the moistorizer b/c THAT made my face shiny and oily

Right now I use Smashbox Photo Finish primer – someone gave it to me, otherwise I wouldn’t use it because it’s so expensive, but it is AMAZING!  The cheaper version is the Monistat Chafing Lotion – same ingredients, and tons of people swear by it.

I second Monistat chafing gel! Work amazing and is SO much cheaper than expensive brands.

I use smashbox photo finish primer and love it. After not wearing any primer, to wearing this, I have really noticed a difference without how long my makeup stays on. And my face feels smoother when I take it off.

The monistat is what I use as well! Works great!

Goes on smooth and makes your makeup last forever and it’s freaking cheap. What more can you ask for? Ok, maybe a different name, but can’t have everything 🙂

I just totally splurged on perfekt skin perfection gel and it is A.MAZ.ING. but stupid expensive ($57!) so it might be out of your budget.  I justified it by saying I’ll use it from now through the wedding and then once I run out will go back to cheaper primer…haha

I bought the Smashbox photo primer light. I really like it, but I wish I knew about the chafing gel before I spend the $$$.

I’ve been using hard candy sheer envy illuminating primer. It reminds me of Smashbox photofinish and works in my opinion just as well =] I’m going to look into monistat chafing gel once this runs out though!

I agree with everyone else — Monistat and the Hard Candy face primer work just as well as the Smashbox one, and neither of them leave me feeling greasy or oily throughout the day. You just have to make sure you give the primer a few minutes to settle before you add any foundation.
