So last night I decided to do an overhaul to my makeup regime. I have been in between foundations for a few weeks and I got a sample from the Estee Lauder counter at Macys of their DoubleWear foundation and I am HOOKED! I had been using Lancome Teint Idole for a few weeks but it just wasn’t the coverage I was looking for. I have pretty oily skin so I need something that will hold up all day and stay matte. So after making the decision to buy the DoubleWear I then headed to Sephora and definitely splurged. I bought the following which I have to say I love!
Urban Decay Naked Palette (amazing for creating a smokey eye which I’m trying to master via YouTube tutorials lol)
Buxom Big & Healthy lip gloss in “sugar” (such an awesome lipgloss. Not sticky and has minerals in it that gives a tingling sensation to creat fullness)
Stay Don’t Stray eye primer by Benefit. (I’ve needed an eye primer for awhile and I really like this one. A little goes a long way!)
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer (I’ve used this for years and love it because it’s so light)
Smashbox Bronzer (this is great for contouring and isn’t too heavy!)
Bobbi Brown corrector and concealer/powder palette combo. (best concealer ever…seriously!) The corrector makes a huge difference too!
I also got a sample of Smashbox Photo Finish Primer and I like it alot. Although I’ve also heard that Phillips Milk of Magnesia (believe it or not) works awesome as a makeup primer because the Magnesium is good for your skin and helps control oil in the t-zone. I’m a little scared to try this but I’ve read this online and from multiple friends so who knows!
Now these were definitely splurges and the prices reflect that. I’m also a big supporter of drugstore cosmetics too and some of my recent purchases that I love are.
Almay Wakeup highlighter/eyeliner combo. I got this in coffeebuzz and iced buff. Love this so much!
Physician’s formula multi-colored blush in blushing berry. So pretty and soft!
Revlon ColorStay liquid liner in blackest black. Awesome LL and stays put!
So just wanted to see what some of the bees current makeup must-haves are. Luxe or drugstore!

@Katie1359: I am a Clinique fan too… the Dirty Delete lotion and the City Block SPF 25 (works as a primer/sunscreen – I often put it on after the Dirty Delete lotion and skip tinted moisturizer/foundation). Also, Clinique Lash Doubling mascara.
Ditto to the UD Naked palette… I also love their Primer Potion that makes the eye shadow last all day.
Dior Ultragloss is my favorite lip gloss.
I use Almay concealer when/where needed occasionally.. the one that helps fight blemishes. I figure it’s less pore clogging than other concealers.

@Katie1359: I also LOVE the UD Naked palette. It’s definitely my go-to for every day looks, night looks, etc. I find I have to fight myself to use my other products! LOL. I could spend waayyy too much money in Sephora, so I try not to go in that often.
As far as drugstore products, I love the Revlon Balm Stains and Lip Butters. They are moisturizing and have such fun pops of colour! 🙂

@canarydiamond: I just think Clinique skincare is really consistent and it’s very light! I used to have Dior lip plumper which I loved…I should get that again sometime, but in the meantime the Buxom is lovely!
@Baroness_Meg: The UD palette is definitely a hit! I can see why it’s been a bestseller for so long. Me too, I try not to go too often but yesterday was just one of those days! I had a gift card for Christmas so that helped…a little lol.

I also should mention that my favorite mascara in the whole wide world has to be Lancome Definicils with the Cils XL Booster (primer). I’ve tried so many mascaras and this one is by far my fave. Length, separation, NO clumping EVER! And it washed off easily with makeup remover. No scrubbing of the eyes is a good thing! And my favorite makeup remover is Clinique Take The Day Off balm. My sister got it a few weeks ago and I used some of hers (sshhh) and it was incredible. It looks like a waxy balm and then when you massage it on your face it turns to an oily liquid (this scared me a little) but when you wash it off it leaves your face so clean, all of the makeup is gone with no harsh scrubbing! And there is zero residue! LOVE THIS!!

@Katie1359: I resisted the UD Naked Palette and then finally got it just this past year. I LOVE it!
Here are my favorite pricey items:
-Urban Decay’s Super Curling Mascara – it really works!
-Benefit’s They’re Real! Mascara
-Urban Decay’s Naked Palette
-Urban Decay’s Primer potion
-Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Blissul – $25 but it last FOREVER! I cake it on everyday and I haven’t reached the pan yet. I’ve had it for over a year.
-Tarte’s Amazonian Clay bronzer
-Make Up Forever’s finishing powder
-Stila’s liquid liner
And my favorite drug store items:
-Oil of Olay’s moisturizer – my college roommate’s grandmother used it everyday since she was a teenager. She had great skin until she passed away.
-Nyx lip liners
-Nyx eyebrow pencils
-Burt’s bee chapstick
Overall, I just love make up!

I am also addicted to Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation!! It’s my HG foundation! Too bad I can’t wear it for my wedding as the SPF causes your skin to look super pale with flash photography :
I also love EL mascara, I second the UD Naked palette (wear it everyday), UD eye primer – love it, Clinique blush is awesome too.
Drugstore – I love Rimmel Stay Matte powder!

I splurge on powder, foundation, blush, and sometimes shadow (I love my Bobbi Brown pallette) but I always buy drugstore mascara and lipgloss!

@IzzyBear: I actually used double wear for my wedding and it held up beautifully. I dont know if it is because i am so pale already, but i didnt notice any problems with ghost face.

@Katie1359: I am tempted to get that balm. Right now I use store brand wipes (compare to Ponds Clean Sweep wipes) that work pretty well EXCEPT for when I wear my liquid liner. It takes a while to get off.
How much was the balm?

My must-haves are MakeUp Forever foundation, Naked II palette (though I really only use two colors from it), and Perfect Formula pink gel for nails.
@Katie1359: I also got a sample of Smashbox Photo Finish Primer and I like it alot. Although I’ve also heard that Phillips Milk of Magnesia (believe it or not) works awesome as a makeup primer because the Magnesium is good for your skin and helps control oil in the t-zone.
I’ve never heard of using milk of magnesia (I would think it would make your face chalky white), but rather the Monistat Chafing Gel. It’s $5 a pop and works in the same way and has some of the same exact ingredients as the pricey primer from Smashbox. I’ve been using it for a few years now and it works really well.

@Katie1359: I’m a bit of a makeup snob (I really try not to be!) but I LOVE Makeup Forever’s foundation – I’m super pale and it’s the only one that doesn’t make me too yellow or pink. Also, UD Naked 1 and benefit Badalash – my 3 makeup bag staples!
