Disclaimer: My pics are REALLY bad- very low resolution. Sorry for that!
My grandmother is throwing me a traditional engagement party in our village home in Menetes this August.
Im getting my hair done, but I don’t know anyone I trust to do my makeup…it can be a disaster if someone paints your face badly, am I right??
So I’m doing it myself. I spoke with my makeup artist in Athens, and she told me to keep it simple- make a bronze eye with a touch of silver in the corner for some brightness- some false eyelashes and a thin layer of eyeliner. A neutral-pink blush and lip gloss- not sure if I should go with a darker color or a more pale lip.
Here are some pics of my first trial:
What do you guys think? I didn’t put foundation, but I will be adding foundation on the day-of…

I like the eyes, but the rest of your face looks a little plain. Maybe a more blush??

Darker lips, a little more blush, and keep practicing with the liquid eyeliner to get a smoother line. You’re gorgeous no matter what though!

@Evie19: I would add consealer or consealing powder along with foundation… I would also darken your eyes a little bit with black liner espically under eye.
It looks – OK but not wedding day to me, more like a night out type of makeup.

@peacockchris: For some reason the blush didn’t come out in the pictures, but I do have it darker. 🙂 Thanks!
@KristenGotMarried: How sweet of you to say, thank you! I was also thinking darker lips, but the engagement party is going to be a daytime thing- 11am-5:30pm about…should I still have darker lips?
@Captain013: This isn’t my wedding day makeup, it is for our engagement party. Since it is a daytime event, should I still add black under the eye?

@Evie19: Oh, nevermind then. Maybe just add mascara to the lower lash it is just daytime. Sorry I thought it was for your wedding day.
The eyeshadow looks good for daytime 🙂

@KristenGotMarried: I agree you should add some color to your lips, not s dark color or bright just something subtle.

@Captain013: Thanks for the tips! I’m so scared to put mascara and eyeliner on my lower lashes because I’m afraid I’ll mess it up…maybe i’ll try it during another trial. 🙂
I will definitely add more color to the lips. 🙂

@Evie19: If you dont normaly wear mascara I guess I wouldnt do it then…but its really easy. You cna look in the mirror while you do it.

I would go with a more saturated lip and the light gloss over it. You can also use some bronzer to highlight your cheeks, ect. To give you that glow 😀

It’s really not hard to get mascara on your lower lashes. They even make lower-lash mascara that has a tiny wand (I *think* it’s Lancome who makes that, it’s like $10 at Sephora). No reason to skip it, really.

Gorgeous! I like the eyes! What did you use on them? Maybe add a darker brown in the outer crease to add definition. Other than that, maybe some mineral powder to dust on your skin to give a more polished look under the blush

Thanks again for everyone’s suggestions! I do wear mascara, but it always seems to smudge. :-/
I’ll be wearing false lashes on top, but I’m so scared to put mascara on the lower lids…I am imagining myself walking around with smudged mascara under my eyes, lol.
@Heatherloveskenny: I used the new limited edition MAC pigment shadow- it came in a case of gold/bronze, silver, green and navyblue. It is amazing! I really recommend it. Perfect for summer.
What is mineral powder? I’ll look it up, I think they have that at MAC as well, right?
