I’m having a semi-destination wedding and have very little time before the wedding (about a week) in the actual location. I set up 1 hair trial, but am debating about whether its necessary to do a makeup trial. Is anybody forgoing this? Is it worth the extra time/money to have that trial run before the wedding? I’ve never really had my makeup done professionally before and don’t really have a specific look that I know I want (I just want to look pretty!) so I’m not sure if I need it or not.

I would say the answer depends on how much of a perfectionist you are, and also how concerned you are about the photos. Sometimes makeup can look quite different in different lights (indoor, outdoor, flash, incandecent, flourescent). If you have a makeup trial have someone snap some test pics of you in various lighting situations.

Depends if you trust the makeup artist I guess. Ours lives really far so we’re doing a short one the day before the wedding, but she does the makeup for all of the Urban Outfitters.com photoshoots, so I trust that she’ll be able to make me look purdy for the camera.

Considering that your hair and makeup will be in your pictures forever, a trial is necessary to make sure that you and the makeup artist are on the same page. If you don’t like what they do, and you don’t get a trial, then the makeup artist is not to blame at that point if you don’t like it.

I’m doing my own make up.. I have been doing my own make up forever now and i really like the way I do it.. I dont trust anyone with my make up.. but if i had someone else doing my make up i would definantly have a trial with him.. You never know what kind of products are they using and what kind of make up style they have.
