I’m sorry bees, I hate to be one of those people that’s like “please tell me I look good”, but I have to hear some honest opinions and I know I’ll get them here! LOL
I had my makeup trial today, and I just feel like the eye makeup is too dark, or too much? Not crazy about the lip colour also, but that’s something I can easily change. I’m used to wearing makeup, but not fake lashes and i never wear liner on my lower lashes, maybe that’s what’s getting me. Also, I don’t know if it shows up as dark as it feels in person..
Without makeup (AHHH!)
(don’t mind the hair in any these pics please) Ok, here I am with makeup

You look amazing! I don’t think its too dark but I know when I don’t wear makeup for awhile, and I’m heading for a night out I always feel like I over do it but its not the case. Anyways it looks perfect!

It looks good! But, I think the bottom liner would be a little dark/thick for my taste also. Maybe she could try it with a brown instead of super black. (Then again, on your wedding day, you won’t have your face 6″ from the camera like this so it might look really good.)
PS – I like the lip color a lot! Looks great with your skin tone and hair.

I think it looks amazing!
P.s. your eyes are amazing!

@lolot: i think maybe thats part of the issue, I’m used to browns (since I’m a redhead) I’ve never done black before. I think you’re right, if I ask her to use brown it might look a little less HERE’S MY MAKEUP!

did you already book with this MUA?

Hey, fellow redhead here! 🙂
On your wedding day, you should look like a better version of yourself, but you should still feel like you!
I know when I first saw myself after my makeup trial I was shocked and didn’t like it because I wear very little makeup. But after peeking at myself in the mirror a few times throughout the course of the day, I got used to it and really liked it.
Don’t be afraid to ask the MUA to make adjustments. If I were you, I would probably ask for a brown liner instead of black- I’m like you and I almost never wear eyeliner under my eye. So at my makeup trial I ended up asking the MUA to really lighten up the makeup under my eyes.
Also it looks to me like she put a lot of eyeshadow on your lower lid, under the eyeliner. I’d ask to have that removed personally (but I wanted a really natural look).
The fake eyelashes also drove me crazy at first because of the length, but you can ask her to trim them for you a little bit and they’ll feel a lot better! 🙂
ETA: I also just noticed that your eyebrows still seem very very light (thought maybe it’s just the lighting/camera). Did she use any kind of product on your eyebrows to darken them up a little? I think that may be part of the reason your eyes look so shocking.

@gelaine22: Not yet, this was just a trial. She’s a friend of a friend and her price is crazy good because Of said friend, so I’m hoping to be able to go with her, I just want to make sure i don’t look like an idiot.

I suggest that since you have such light skin and hair, that you change from black liner to something more soft like a dark brown. Else than that I love the eyeshadow, looks great!

I wear makeup all the time and when I do makeup for others I remind them to think of the whole picture with fancier hair and clothes.

I don’t think it’s too dark at all. You look amazing!

@rachelmichelle: Thanks for the tips! I’ve since taken a Q-tip and kind of removed some of the shadow from the bottom, and I feel a bit better about thAt. She did that because I sent her a picture of Christina Hendricks and she had that look.
Im really thinking that the switch to brown might make all the difference. Did the brown still camouflage the lashes?

@FortiesFlare: I agree with PP that a dark brown liner would probably give you the look that you’re after.
Two more suggestions: I think a more defined brow (brow powder about a shade or two darker than your natural hair color) would balance out the dramatic eyes. Also, I think a peach gloss would be a little more flattering than a pink one.
Other than that, I think your makeup looks good! I like the foundation coverage level and the eyelashes look great.

@FortiesFlare: Okay if that is the case then I wont recommend you go with someone else but see if she can do the following:
adjust the eye makeup…I only see one color eyeshadow on the lid vs lid, crease, outer v, highlight and your brows looked untouched (no, they dont have to look drawn on or super dark but still “done”)
I would also have her do a bit more to the face for pictures (did she highlight/contour?)
different set of lashes
adjust the eyeliner like PPs said
* I LOVE the lip color on you!!!

I love it, but remember you could go dark green on the bottom instead of brown which might compliment your eyes even more. I really like it the way it is though.
