My dad passed away from lung cancer when I was 11, so I wanted to honor him in some way at our wedding. I have decided to make a donation to the American Cancer Society in lieu of favors.
My question is, how would I let guests know this? Should I do little placecards at each table saying something like “In lieu of favors, a donation has been made to the American Cancer Society in honor of _____’s memory.”
I’m a little confused at how to go about this… any suggestions would be appreciated!

We did a small, framed sign by the guest book.

I really think its a cute idea to get those rubber band bracelets made. They are really afforable and and you can personalize the colors and the wording.

I’m going to get 4×6 or 5×7 frames at dollar tree and make up a card with your exact wording above, plus a logo and then a few sentances about the foundation. I’m putting 2 on each of the 6′ round tables. That way depending on where you sit at the table, you can still see a donation card framed.

We incorporated a donation card (5X7) (which was made by the woman who made our invitations and was BEAUTIFUL!!) into our centerpieces. I’ll try to rustle up a picture of it if I can!

@Blondee: YES! i LOVE this idea! my friend is going with the same plan… but i think she mentioned she would have them printed on napkins? im not 100% certain but little tiny cards is fine or behind the place cards you can write it at the bottom…

I did donation favors and I DIY’d them. They were so much fun and they got the message across to all of our guests. Here is what I did.

I had to request permission from the foundation for the use of the logo (its not a PUBLIC event, but still felt the need to ask). they got back to me this afternoon and said it was perfectly fine and made it sound like nobody has ever donated to them in lieu of favors, they asked for pictures of the finished product from the wedding so they can feature us on their blog! ahh!
sorry, i’m excited. lol 🙂
