The inflatable neck donut! We put that on our dog instead of the cone of shame when she got spayed. She couldn’t reach her incision, and she was a million times more comfortable. She acted as if it wasn’t even there.

@Taeyers:  +1.  The donut rocks (even though its kind of pricey for what is essentially an infatable pillow with a polyester cover)!   Sweet puppy can actually turn his head and rub his ears against walls if he has an itch while healing!

@SouthernGirl:  Your baby puppy is so cute!!!

We used the inflatable collar with both of our dogs.  They are much better than the cones!  We highly recommend them.

Another vote for the inflatable collar!  We got one for our pug Izzy, and she was much more comfortable and able to do most of her activities without interruption.

@SouthernGirl:  I use the inflatable one too! It’s kind of like a pillow for him. Or at least that’s what I tell myself.

We have a Comfy Cone that has made the rounds amongst neighborhood dogs – same protection as the regular plastic cone, but collapses enough that they can lay down in it comfortably.  Highly recommend!

@SouthernGirl:  Truthfully, I’ve never left one of those on my dogs for more than a few hours- I usually take it off and watch them to make sure they’re leaving the area alone, and they always do! You might try taking it off to see if he’s ok with the incision (I’m clearly not a vet, just a multidecade pet parent!)

My poor dog is in a cone of shame right now, too.  Poor guy. 🙁
