My first thought when you said robin’s egg blue was hydrangea. My bouquet was exclusively hydrangea, and I loved it! I made it the night before the wedding with no mock up (now that I think about that… what a silly thing to do!) We ordered our hydrangea from Sam’s club

We did all our own flowers. We got soooo many for $800 at various wholesalers. Also, if you want something special, but only a few of them, you can special order them through safeway or king soopers. As to your flower type/colors…you could do purple tulips, there are also deeper purple roses and purpley snapdragons…depending on what shape you want.

Here’s my flowers!

We did all our flowers on our own and we have similar colors!  What we did was ordered the flowers unassembled from a florist and then assembled them ourselves.  They were SO NICE and helpful–when I said I either wanted light green or dark purple hydrangea for the bridesmaids, they were very honest that the light green would be expensive.  They weren’t able to get the dark purple, so they sprayed white hydrangea purple.

My bouquet (blue hydrangeas and white roses)

MOH’s bouquet (white hydrangea sprayed purple with white roses)

Our wedding party…

Shambley, how many hydrangeas did you use in your bouquet? I’m trying to figure out how many I should order for my bouquet + 5 bridesmaids.

@kjo687:  I’m trying to remember… I think I used 5 to 7 large ivory hydrangea and 3 or 4 smaller green hydrangea… we kind of just played with it until it looked right. I LOVE big bouquets, so I knew I wanted mine to be huge 🙂
