I don’t have any suggestions on an actual design, but I designed ours myself and I pretty much just browsed around on invitation sites (weddingpaperdivas, paper-source, etc.) and took elements that I liked from different invites.

I did mine myself, but I used a template from oneheartweddings.com for the background.  Browse templates, there or even on zazzle or vistaprint, if you are looking for design ideas. We printed them on a great paper I found with gold edges that came in a wedding invite set, so it had invite size paper and envelopes and rsvp size paper and envelopes.

I agree with previous posters.  Pick out invites you like and write down why you like them and you will nail down what you want.  Give yourself plenty of time and do a full mock-up before doing 300!

I used Paper Source for almost everything but would also suggest paperpresentation.com, they have everything.

Something we thought of doing to save money is printing in Black and white on plain copy paper, and then attaching those sheets to colored cardstock mattes for a pop of color. You could do different colors of cardstock for the different elements of your invite suite.
