Are you big party / club people? There are other parts of Ibiza but it is known as a party island and during the summer is full of sunburnt brits getting drunk

I’d jump at the chance to go to the Maldives!

Yeah, Ibiza is full of pasty brits and Irish getting blitzed. (I’m pasty Irish, I can be rude)

I would definitely choose the Maldives.

For our 30th wedding anniversary we went to the Maldives. If you are into partying this isn’t the place to go but if you are into nature or beautiful scenery or romance then it is fantastic.

We flew from Male by seaplane to an island with a fantastic home reef just a few metres from the shore. Every day we went snorkling and watched clouds of brightly coloured fish busying themselves on the reef. We swam in the middle of a shoal of zebra fish that just all happily accompanied us around the edge of the reef. We had trips to see dolphins, manta rays and whale sharks. Fantastic.

I did not really like Ibiza at all and don’t think it would be a nice honeymoon spot.

Ibiza is one of the clubbing capitals of Europe, parts of it will be full of drunk Brits on stag and hen parties. Personally I’d avoid it like the plague, but I’m not into clubbing. If you want to party, it’ll be great. Parts of the island are beautiful, but you’ll be hard pressed to avoid the crowds. If you want to relax, I’d go with the Maldives.

I can’t speak on Maldives, but Ibiza was the first trip my fiance and I took out of the country. It was amazing! We did go out and party a lot on the island, but we spent some time on Formentera which I feel like is the more romantic, calmer island. It was a quick boat ride. It really depends on what you’re looking for in a honeymoon, but Ibiza is crazy and fun for sure.

If you’re interested in Spain I would recommend Mallorca over Ibiza.

I love mainland Spain. Would not go to Ibiza for a honeymoon. Maldives will be more quiet and relaxing, not a crazy party vibe!

khaleesi13 :  Me and my husband just did Ibiza this September for our big honeymoon/anniversary.. we did a whole Europe Trip so Barcelona to Ibiza to Portugal and finished our trip in Nice.

We LOVED it but we like to party, while Ibiza is veryyy gorgeous it is definately a party centered island so if you are not huge on that I suggest you do what we did and do several places.

Why not do barcelona ibiza and then spend a week in Algarve region of Portugal relaxing?

Ive never done Maldives but from my well travelled friends they all said the trek and cost is not worth it and you can get way more culture, food and things to do in Southern Europe.. or even Sri Lanka I know is very popular these days as their beaches are just as gorgeous as Maldives at a fraction of the cost

ETA: we are 28 (me) and 33 (him) years old and married for a year when we went and are Canadian if that makes a difference.

Portugal was a dream.. if you want to DM me I can give you all our info.. we stayed in a private villa for 200 cad/night with a pool and 5 min from world known beaches.. I honeslty cant say enough good things about Portugal from the beaches to culture food and people nightlife..everything blew us away

I absolutely love Ibiza, I’ve been numerous times in my early twenties because the clubs, music and vibe are unreal. However, it is not somewhere I would go for a honeymoon unless you are into clubbing and dance music because it is the party capital of Europe. There are quieter parts which are beautiful, but there are much nicer more chilled and cultural areas of Spain you could go to instead, which are probably a lot cheaper. Ibiza has become even more popular recently due to dance music becoming more mainstream and blowing up in the US, which has pushed the prices up considerably. If you are set on a the Balearics I would consider Mallorca or Menorca instead as they are a lot more chilled and just as beautiful.

There are other Spanish islands that aren’t party islands. The Maldives is very expensive
