It’s probably totally harmless. Maybe he has no one and upon hearing you were getting married he sees it as easy conversation. Maybe he has someone in his family who is getting married and wants some inside dirt on prices, etc. Maybe he’s paying for his daughter’s wedding? WHO KNOWS! I think it’s harmless. Just be nice, answer, smile, and end the conversation.

I don’t think it’s too weird. Wedding dresses are not a topic many men know about, myabe he’s just curious.

I don’t think its weird.  He’s probably just trying to get to know you and most people don’t shut up about their wedding plannings so he feels its an easy subject.

It’s out of the ordinary, but if he has a daughter he may just be financially preparing himself lol

married 25yr and 2 kids – my first guess was that he is preparing himself for when one of his own announces he/she is getting married so he can offer up some $$$ and know that its enough for a dress at least.  doesnt seem weird to me

He probably is just interested in the cost of weddings now. Im assuming they have gotten a tad more expensive in 25 years. You said he has to kids maybe he knows here pretty soon he will be dishing out money for a wedding… I would think this is harmless but a little odd yes.

Give the poor guy a break. He’s either bracing himself to pay for a wedding, or maybe he wants to see how much weddings cost now compared to when he got married.

Who really cares either way?

Yeah, I don’t know.  First of all, guys do not understand how much dresses cost. Any price is going to be a lot to them. I would ask him why he wants to know before I give him any more info.

I work with an older guy who wants to know everything about the wedding. I’ve stopped talking to him about it if I can help it, and I try to politely shut down conversation about it.

Maybe he is paying for his daughter’s wedding and is curious how much he will have to spend?
