My wedding is a mass. The after-Communion song is the Irish Wedding Song. I love it — my friend played it for me on CD last year so I chose that.
I wanted this woman as the person to sing the songs for the mass, however I just remembered that the person who sings the Irish Wedding Song on the CD is a man. He sounds great on it.
I’m just wondering if a female who sounds like a church/opera singer would do it right.
I’m getting married in a University Church. There are about five or six church singers to choose from — male and female. I heard them sing (they audition for the couples) and I liked all of them. I chose this one girl who I liked the most. I contacted her yesterday and she said she could do the wedding. I had been thinking about how she sounded for church songs, which was great, but the fact I’d chosen the Irish Wedding Song (not a church song) didn’t cross my mind when I contacted her yesterday.
So today I emailed her to ask if she knew the Irish Wedding song. She said she does and will sing it.
I could get one of the guy soloists to sing that song and keep her for everything else but it’s extra money for an additional singer that I don’t want to spend.
Obviously you can only answer this question if you’ve heard the Irish Wedding Song:
Male or female?
If it’s male, I think I’d have to tell her I’ll be looking for someone else. (Though I feel bad about that and don’t want to have to do it unless necessary.)
