Mall store diamonds, did we get lucky?

It’s not that mall store diamonds are bad, it’s that they’re overpriced. You end up paying a lot more than you would if you purchased your diamond from a reputable online retailer, and the quality generally isn’t good enough to justify the price.

overthemoon2018 : beatiful ring. My rings are from jared an i got a great deal n i am not ashamed by any means. My man paid 1500 for both my rings. My ering is .65 si2 princess cut an my band is about 1/2 carat as well. The ering he got on sale was a vault deal for 980 regular proce was 1300 my band was also a vault deal for 279 regular proce 599. You can get good deals at the mall stores you just have to know when to look. I adore my rings. Congrats on your engagement.

It’s really not that diamonds from mall stores are lesser than, they usually just come with inflated prices for the quality you get. Do you know the specs of your ring and how much he paid for it?

overthemoon2018 :  what a seriously pretty diamond and unique solitaire!!!!! Is a heart shaped cut usually more expensive than a round or princess? Just curious what other Bees have experienced.

jboss :  No, it’s not more expensive. The most expensive cut is the round brilliant. The least expensive are emerald and cushion. It all has to do with the amount of rough lost in the cutting of the stone. This is why signature ideal cut stones are so expensive.

overthemoon2018 :  Beautiful ring! In the long run it’s not going to matter if your husband overpaid or not. If he’s happy and you’re happy it’s all good.

My husband bought my ring from Shane Co. which aren’t typically in malls but they are a chain. Anyway, maybe if we have been willing to do a bunch of research we could have gotten a better deal somewhere else but we got a ring/stone I absolutely love at a price we are happy without the hassle of having to do a bunch of research we didn’t want to do.

All that matters is that you are happy!
