Mrs. Meowerson :  I had crackers about 11 hours post surgery. Pretty sure I had some breakfast the morning after (26ish hours post surgery). I also got sick to my stomach right after birth and a few hours later so I’m not sure if I had to wait longer.

Our hospital brings in a “celebration meal” when you’re ready to eat. I have no idea what that entails but I told Darling Husband I will require a big cold Italian sub 🙂

I’ll be 16 weeks this weekend. I’ve started to think about what I’d want to eat after delivery, and what my Darling Husband would want. My first meal will probably be hospital food because of convenience and in case I’m sick to my stomach after delivery/ C Section.

In my city, hospital food is cooked very early in the day, 2 hours away (where the foods company is) and then brought it to area hospitals. When it arrives it’s pretty flavourless.

Hope all goes well for you, I’m sure you are counting down and excited! 🙂

Mrs. Meowerson :  I had a full tray of food delivered about 2.5-3 hours after. They made me start with the jello on it, wait 30 minutes and then I went nuts on the rest of the food. They just wanted to make sure the dose of the anethesia didn’t make me sick to my stomach post-surgery.

Wow this hadn’t even crossed my mind. I figure I’ll just eat whatever the hospital gives me!

snowflake8 :  You can still have a Frappucino now. Up to 200 mg of caffeine a day is allowed when pregnant – I have a small starbucks drink every day at work. And same guideline for breastfeeding – you are alowed a moderate amount of caffeine each day. I don’t get why people make such a big fuss about not having coffee, when even american pregnancy association states it is perfectly fine.

RunnerBride13 :  Ha. Totally. I guess it helps that our hospital, in addition to cafeteria has McDonalds and Starbucks. :-). And aside from sushi and alcohol, there was really nothing else I abstained from so far.

I gave birth to DD two minutes after midnight so the nurses brought me graham crackers and grape juice. I swear they tasted like ambrosia of the gods after a 23 hour long labor with only ice chips to suck on, haha! Darling Husband bought me fancy macarons from a San Francisco bakery as a special treat. I had one after every hospital meal to cleanse my palette, haha!

My baby is only 4 months old and I don’t remember what I ate!  How weird!  I had a c-section and they didn’t let me eat for awhile.  I had tons of apple juice.  I do remember my first meal once I got out of the hospital:  turkey sandwich.

I’m only 11 weeks and so far don’t really feel like I’m missing anything yet… but a cold italian sub does sound delicious… maybe a muffaletta… I’d imagine it’ll be one of those 2 things I end up requesting. My Father-In-Law is really good at making food happen so maybe I’ll task him with that.

My favourite loaded veal on a bun with mushrooms, mozzarella and hot peppers.  I also had a c-section but had no problem devouring it!  I also had half a beer my mum snuck into the hospital because my son was born on NYE.
